Wonderful family holiday and a perfect island to enjoy nature: turtles, birds, fish, rays etc in abundance. Resort a little run down, but please do not over-develop this place! Staff friendly and clearly love the place!

April is a great time to see the baby turtles hatch and the wildlife on Herron is incredible. Step off the beach and snorkel into an aquarium of fish, turtles, sting rays and all sorts of marine wildlife. If you lover birds they have these too. It's a great place for a family holiday or a place to learn to...

Wonderful technology free family holiday with a great focus on our Australian wildlife. Just what you need when nurturing family relationships, we would love to return to Heron island again. Friendly staff, beautiful location and great snorkelling.

We were recently on Heron Island for a bit over a week. I was looking forward to going immensely but my experience was very mixed. The initial booking process on the phone with the customer support in the US was excellent – very knowledgeable staff, recommending the right package and which room was best for us etc. but once arriving...

Snorkelling around the island is amazing. We saw 100s of turtle hatchlings every night. The resort is a great size. Not too crowded even though we were there in the busiest week of the year. Great staff. Food was surprisingly good. Lots of choice at the buffet and decent a la carte too. Rooms are simple and comfortable. We were...

Lovely family holiday if you love the outdoors and snorkelling but not too fussed about the lack of luxe! Hard to get to but worth it. No phone or internet so plan ahead to allow for any sudden change in travel itinerary. A great chance to see the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef which has not been too...

What a gem of an island! Even though we had pretty rough water on the ferry ride over (nearly everyone got sick), experienced a cyclone, and were without our luggage for the first 3 days, we would come back here in a heartbeat! This is not a 5 Star Hotel by any means, but that's not what it's advertised to...

The diving is excellent - so much sea life. Our three teenagers did a course and we dived several times. It was a matter of minutes to get to a dive site with great staff. Very little internet which was a bonus so it made us play cards, etc. Great not to cook so a holiday for mums. Friendly feel...

Heron Island’s environmental importance and credibility as home to unique marine, flora and fauna life forms is threatened. Is there a Manager in this establishment? If so, his or her presence is completely invisible. There is low attention to service or detail and any request for assistance or response to an issue raised is met with polite nodding and an...
