It's a fantastic place and so close to nature. Snorkelling is a must and we had the opportunity to swim with turtles. Also, walking along the beaches in the evening to see both turtles and their hatchlings.

The reef and wildlife are wonderful. The rooms are a bit tired but it was not what we came for. The food was ok but only small portions the snorkel tour was excellent but we found the sub tour a bit hot and not much coral.

We went as a family group. Rooms and meals disappointing but snorkelling, turtles laying, feeding, hatching and moving up and down the beach a truely great experience. My husband who was sceptical won aver as we stepped off the boat. Saw sharks, rays, fish, coral, turtles, eels, birds, starfish and too much more to write. Sharks swimming under you as...

Had a wonderful time on Heron Island. We swam with turtles, sharks, rays and beautiful fish. We were able to experience watching the turtles come on shore and lay their eggs and also see the babies make the journey to them ocean. I will admit the birds are noisy but you do get used to them. We had a great...

I don't know where to start, but we stayed on Heron Island as a family with 4 children aged 17 to 6. I have traveled over the entire country and this place blew me away. I had read some good and bad reviews and had started to doubt my choice of destination but as our Big Cat slowed and pulled...

There are few places on earth as incredible as Heron Island, especially in Summer when the turtles are laying their eggs and the hatchlings hurtle down the beach towards the waiting sharks. The resort is fine but has slipped in quality since previous visits. It was a 4 1/2 star resort and is now a 3 star resort. The extra...

Heron Island is truly a nature lovers paradise. We went as a family with three teenagers for 5 days. All of us rate it as one of the best holidays we have had. 5 days was enough to cover most things. Any less and I think you might miss out. We took all the free walks available and found them...

The island itself is incredibly beautiful and the opportunity to see turtles carry on their daily lives is once in a life time. However... hold your nose tightly - with over 100,000 birds on the island it is very wiffy and the odds of being pooed on from above is high. I was with a group of four and we...

We have just returned after 7 days & found the food terrible & very expensive, the staff (who were mainly overseas back packers) totally inexperienced & will be advising people not to go. The extra activities offered are limited & out of date.

We visited Heron Island in 2016 and it was absolutely beautiful. Snorkeling and diving was great, full of sharks, turtles and rays. Wreck snorkeling was exceptional. The top experience was birds and TURTLES! This is such a "turtle" island. We could experience these beautiful animals everywhere - underwater and we saw them every morning and evening laying eggs. Magnificent experiences!...
