Very overpriced, a bit shabby. Room clean but fridge cupboard door falling apart! Noise from kids playing late in bar area below. Not recommended, plenty of others to choose from! Cheaper and better presented too!
My wife and I stayed here approx 10 years ago for a romantic getaway and we enjoyed our stay very much. How delightful it is to return all these years on to find this gem in such fabulous condition. Clearly they have given the hotel a knockout renovation, it looks sensational. We were treated like royalty from the lovely lass who checked us in 2 hours early to the the polite and cheerful room service and house team. Once in our room I was tremendously impressed with the fit out. Cleanliness is of the highest order the bathroom so modern so clean, the plush bath towels complete with the hotel logo embossed, the classy toiletries, the soft comfy and commodious bath robe all a notch above a standard 5 star hotel. The room design is so clever and neat, great soft tropical tones with whimsy in the murals on the wall....all to my taste!! The bed so fluffy and snug again clean clean clean lovely crisp white linen envelopes you in its sleep spell so so lovely. I can’t speak highly enough of the Shangri La hotel it’s simply stunning. Our views over the marina added to the wonderful illusion, it’s as though we hovered over the water. Just brilliant. Thank you for making our stay so truly memorable, we will return and will recommend to all our friends. …
Loved it at the Shagri-La Hotel. We were given an unexpected upgrade to a room with a balcony overlooking the Marina so instead of going out for dinner, we had a seafood picnic on the balcony and enjoyed the view. The staff were all very helpful, polite and efficient. I would definately return.…
Recently stayed here for a week. The staff were all very curtious and friendly. The room did have an amazing view of the harbour which was excellent and the hotel itself is in a prime location. However, the room was in very poor condition. Dirty floors, very dusty and minimal cheap furniture in very poor condition. No warmth to the room and tiny bathroom with a broken shower head. Very disappointed. Unlikely to stay here again. 😕…
We were impressed with this hotel from the moment we arrived. All the staff we encountered on arrival and during our stay were very welcoming, friendly and polite. We stayed in a deluxe room on the first floor. The room was tastefully decorated, very spacious and clean. The room opened onto a patio area and the hotel gardens which are beautiful and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was very good with a great selection of hot and cold food. The restaurant has a great deck which overlooks the marina and is a good spot to eat or just enjoy a drink. The hotel is in a great location overlooking the marina with the lagoon just next door. The ground level under the hotel facing the marina has many restaurants all within walking distance along the boardwalk so you are spoilt for choice. Parking is available under the hotel or for a small extra fee the hotel offers valet parking. We really enjoyed our short stay at the Shangri La and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering a stay in Cairns.…
