Had an overnight stay for our anniversary. Only one night which was not enough to truly enjoy this hidden gem. Drove past it at first and did not notice this hotel tucked away in a suburban street. Stayed in a suite in the art deco building three doors down the street. Big room, very unique style but it works. Bed...

Dear Mob68, We're pleased that we were able to help to celebrate your recent anniversary! Congratulations! The Simla suites have been designed with our modern day needs in mind, but paying homage to the buildings history and art-deco style. We aim to be 'unique' so I'm really glad that you were able to appreciate this. We've just designed our new...

We decided on a 'staycation' at Spicers for one night to experience a property renowned for it's beautiful food. We chose the Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package and weren't disappointed. It was all fabulous as was the service. Other reviews mentioned the roof top bar was unmanned when they went up, which was the case for us too, however now...

Dear Haydie, Thank you for your comments, and also for selecting our DBB package which truly showcases what we have to offer. The Rooftop bar is one of our favourite features, and just like visiting a close relative or neighbor, we aim to keep the experience homely and comfortable, but with the added benefit of someone to help when needed!...

My husband & I took me daughter & her fiancé for dinner, for my daughters birthday. When we were told the " special" entree was mushrooms on toast, I was very curious & imagined lots of lovely different mushrooms full of flavour on a delicious piece of specialist bread. BUTTON mushrooms was not what I expected, not even sliced just...

Thank you for your comments Eileen. I'm glad that your family enjoyed their meal with us in the Balfour Kitchen and am sorry that our mushrooms hadn't met your expectations. The Mushroom dish was only served over a number of days whilst we had the opportunity to source freshly picked baby button mushrooms as you described. We had discussed the...

This is a great boutique hotel in New Farm (a cool city fringe suburb). Easy walk to nearby James Street for great shopping (fashion and interiors) and lots of places to eat. The staff are so friendly and helpful. It all feels very personal and nothing seems a bother. The restaurant is excellent. Varied breakfast options (included in room rate)....

Spicers have a justifiable reputation for being outstanding and this one fully deserves it place with the elite. The elegant and stylish renovations are not visible from the low profile exterior of this beautiful former Queenslander which snuggles into New Farm but still manages to have a bar with views over the the Story Bridge. An exquisite getaway just a...

A last minute "staycation" for this Brisbane couple. Chose Balfour based on our own amazing experiences at other Spicers properties. It did not disappoint. Service impeccable - this is the Spicers difference. Their people. The property itself is immaculately maintained inside and out. The food rivals any fine dining venue - minus the wordy menu and pretentious aire. None of...

I had to think long & hard before writing this review. There was a lot of great things about the experience & I would certainly visit again, but for me the Signature High Tea didn't quite hit the mark. I've done a few High Tea's lately, because I've been testing them out so I could decide where to take a...

Thank you for your detailed response Adele and for being so objective with your comments. I'm glad that you enjoyed your high tea, although apologise for the shortcomings that you have mentioned. In addition to the Veuve Clicquot being sold by the glass, we also have a prosecco and a NZ sparkling wine available which may have been a more...

This isn't a huge hotel so it felt good and the staff were attentive and efficient. The room was very nice and the bed was good too. The dark wooden decor although attractive meant the room felt dark and the lighting could definitely do with improving. Sounds silly but the light switches were dark and blended into the wood so...
