Our party of 8 chose the old homestead itself, ate with Sophie and Shawn in the shed, David showed his Schoolroom where he does his lessons on the air, we roamed the Lookout and 4WD-drove to Arltunga and Ruby Gap .... this was a huge "station living" Experience holiday. Everything is on a wide country scale here.

We stayed for four nights in the Homestead. There were 8 adults and we had a ball. We cannot speak more highly of the hospitality and the welcome that we got from Sophie, Sean,David and Allie. The house is huge and has all the facilities needed for a group. There are plenty of activities you can do here such as...

We have been living in Alice Springs for 8 years, and we are kicking ourselves that we have only just 'discovered' this amazing getaway! Only a couple of hours drive from Alice, on a road that has recently undergone an extensive upgrade, and we arrived at what we have earmarked as our future 'getaway' when in need of a change...

We camped for 2 nights in our camper van under the trees by the green lawn at this outback working station. The bathrooms were austere but had fabulous showers(essential). We cooked one meal and ate with the family in the workshop/ kitchen meals area for the other meal.. A treat to meet some "hands on" locals, and a fabulous meal...

There's something very special about this beautiful place - the expansive sky, excellent tracks, the smell of the dirt, the lake that's walking distance from the campground. I spent much of my time walking around the lake and it's quiet & peaceful. Stay for 2 or 3 nights because one just isn't long enough to really breathe it in. Yes,...

We travelled here in early May, not totally sure of what the homestead would be like. Getting there was something of an adventure as the property is located well out at the end of the East Mac ranges and is quite remote. The last 50 or so Kms were over a rough but reasonable unsealed road with great views of...

We spent three nights at the Homestead in the self-contained cottage. It was great to experience life on a real cattle station in the middle of Australia, even for a short time. Our host, Maggie, was lovely - so friendly and helpful. The sunrise and sunset each day was spectacular and we could hear dingoes howling in the wee small...

The trip out to Old Ambalindum Homestead requires a vehicle with clearance......irrespective of which way you go (Stuart Hwy or Ross Hwy). Travelling in on the Ross Hwy is quicker and you get to travel through Arltunga which is worth a look. When you get to the Homestead it's all rustic.....rural......and really, really good. Our accommodation was in the 'Cottage'...

It's a bit of a trip in, but well worth it. Lovely quiet, grassed campsites for two or three vans ( we were there by ourselves for 2 of our 3 nights. Great base from which to explore NSW's first town - Arltunga & the spectacular Trephina Gorge. Unfortunately with the rains Ruby Gorge was closed when we were there...
