This is a Very good place to stay. They have FREE WIFI, and a strong signal, quite fast. Good position, centre for backpackers, kings cross has a wonderful nightlife, so many bars, pubs, clubs. Recommended!

Dirty drug-hole ! don't even go near if do want to be mugged. Clothes all over the floor, couple making out in the same room, receptionist on drugs. should be closed down! Sydney is not cheap but really this place is not worth a penny.

Can't believe the other reviews??? Never heard things so far from the truth! Not had any problems that have been mentioned in the other reviews. If you want a fairer evaluation I suggest visiting hostelworld.com. I've stayed at the majority of hostels in Sydney and this is easily the best. A very comfortable atmosphere - cool living area with weekly...

I read all the positive reviews on here before booking, and they must be fake - an employee or owner of the place must have written them because they don't represent the reality at all. Here's a REAL review on the place... Disgusting drug pit - not a hostel at all. I checked in and immediately knew if i stayed...

Rarely anyone on reception, which was quite annoying if if you needed to ask them something. Really Really dirty. The kitchen looked like it hadnt been cleaned in months. The bathrooms were also pretty drity. I bought some cleaning wipes and used flip flops in the shower They do have a dishwasher, which is nice, as saves on washing up....

A new hostel with good facilities , fabulous breakfast, clean toilets...most of the time staffs were not around...eventually became self service for everything. Only other problem noticed...even though beds were new it was always squeaky....any light movement made a big noice .....otherwise a good place to stay !!

I‘ve stayed in a lot of hostels in the last 6months while travelling around the world and I’m happy to say that this was the BEST hostel I’ve ever stayed in! It was like a home away from home. Kangaroo bakpak has amazing staff who are always willing to help you and love getting the whole hostel together for great...

I loved it here, there is free laundry, breakfast, nice rooms with designed privacy, your own locker and your own plug and light by your bed. They have really thought of everything and the whole place is comfortable and friendly as it is not one of the "big backpackers" so you get to know people that are staying there. The...

Staying in Surry Hills

Neighbourhood Profile
Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighbourhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colourful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighbourhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.
