This place is the nicest hostel I encountered in Australia. So clean and modern! It's very large, but handles it well. The only thing that made me sad was paying extra for wifi. I also would like to comment on the location. It is very central on of course convenient to the train station. However, I honestly would have liked...

Hostel rates are pretty steep in Sydney however, Railway Square YHA offers some of the best rates plus it is located right beside Central Station and is within walking distance to loads of F&B joints and shops. We stayed in the private room for 2 nights and had everything we needed. There isn't any wifi or telly in the room...

I stayed here to have a place to sleep after a night out in Sydney. Being my first solo youth hostel stay, I was a bit apprehensive, but everything turned out to be wonderful. The staff were cheerful and very quick with check in and out. The common room and kitchen were great to chill out in. I stayed in...

Have stayed here about 4/5 times. Reasonably nice hostel, not the best, but not the worst. Beds are somewhat comfortable. Only 2 power sockets in each room which makes it a little annoying when other people are charging their stuff. Bathrooms looked a little depressing but were fairly clean overall. Check in staff have always been extremely helpful and happy...

Location - right beside the central railway station. A quick walk down the stairs has a convenience store and a small hand full of food places, most cheap and cheerful. Across the road subway and a few other places. Also on George st is the bus stop for the free 555 bus which takes you to circular quay ( stop...

Stayed here from 28 Feb to 3 Mar 14, this hostel is located close to Central station and was really convenient to get around. Also walking distance to Chinatown, Paddy's market and even to Oxford street. Facilities were clean and satisfactory, rented a towel for just $A1 and there were sufficient power points for us. (Stayed in a 4 bed...

Sydney YHA is always a safe option. Clean rooms, lockers in rooms, plugs for each bed, excellent equipped and spacious kitchen. 8 Share Carriage can be noisy because they are located next to the train platforms. But no problem for one or two nights.

I've visited this hostel a few times but my only actual stay was for one night in early March. I booked into an 8 bed railway carriage and was immediately impressed with the room. Despite being an 8 bed dorm there is still a good amount of space to store belongings and move around. The beds themselves are comfortable, and...

I have stayed here twice. Both times I was either catching a train out, or coming in on a train. The regular shared rooms are ok; although it can be hard to haul luggage up the stairs. I prefer the Carriage Car dorms, they are all ground floor and a reasonably quite considering they are adjacent to Central Station. The...

I've stayed at Railway Square YHA 3 times and loved it every time. It has a great location, right near trains and buses and within easy walking distance to many attractions. In addition the place is clean, bright and airy. There is a really nice communal area with lounges and coffee tables etc, as well as a communal kitchen. Opposite...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighbourhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theatre, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
