What is good............ the continental breakfast included, and for 5 AUD you can upgrade to a monster full cooked job. It is cheap. it has a good coffee shop on site. it is in a very useful location. What is not so good. where to start.................... At 1800, I called them to make sure that the reception / bottle shop...

We stayed here from 30th Dec 06 - 4th Jan 07. The hotel was great - some of the previous reviews on tripadvisor had left me feeling slightly apprehensive about the place - but there were NO WORRIES! We arrived early - the previous occupants of our room were finding it difficult to leave! So the receptionist asked us to...

I stayed here September 2004, so things might have changed since I visited. I thought the location was great - we walked everywhere. The room itself was quite small but neverless it was clean and tidy and with so much to do in Syndey, you won't be spending much time in your room anyway. Didn't experience any problems with the...

Listen, this hotel is in a great location, the old building is fabulous, and you can pop downstairs for the sizeable continental breakfast which is included in the price. The rooms are a bit shabby, but who cares? If you want something nice in the CBD, you're gunna have to pay more. I loved my stay at the Macquarie, and...

We booked this hotel thru internet. It looked like a great place from the photos showed on the web, but it turned out to be a total mistake to book this hotel. Arrived at 10 am on Sat, the entry door was not open despite they state reception hour from 8:30 on Sat. Struggled for about 1 hour, finally one...

We booked to stay at the Macquarie Boutique Hotel before we read any of the reviews on trip advisor. After we read them, i wanted to cancel our stay there but my husband assured me that it would be ok. And it was...ok. The service was, at best, acceptable. The rooms were not very clean and the walls were extremely...

With the 'included' continental breakfast you need to purchase tea or coffee! Also we needed to continually ask for clean towels etc. Ended up purchasing our own tea/milk/sugar as got sick of asking for it to be supplied. No soap in the toilet - no soap rack in the shower. Extra charge to open a bottle of wine for our...

Dirty, No Curtains and Mouse Ridden!! Unfortunately, I stayed there over Christmas. Considering that I'd paid $110 per night to stay there I found the hotel was dirty and a rip off. My small room had NO Curtains which made it difficult to sleep, and while I was watching TV a Mouse crawled on my bed. I left immediately and...

Like in the game "Monopoly", this "hotel" seems to have been built from a collection of "green houses," that is, the owners keep parlaying their profits and improving the property sideways and upward. This collection makes for an interesting floor plan. The ground (1st) floor is a friendly corner pub and literally outside and next door is the breakfast room...

On the upside: reasonable price (100,-), reasonably good location if you know your ways. The best about the hotel is the breakfast at the cafe downstairs. Best: have breakfast there, sleep somewhere else. On the low side: this hotel is a ---------. bathroom mouldy and bad, bad smell, we showered in our thongs, best not shower at all! hotel located...

Staying in Surry Hills

Neighbourhood Profile
Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighbourhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colourful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighbourhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.
