I stayed here for a few nights when I first arrived in Sydney. This place is great - there are rules about noise and drinking, guests, etc, which I LOVED as I was working full time and sleep is important! This place is a large hostel but is relatively clean given the number of the guests but it is very...

The manager I forgot his name but I think it's lanu or Lani is the worst person to manager this place! I throughly enjoyed my stay here but unfortunately the manger was terrible he mixed pleasure with work. Terrible guy who is only there to get sponsored always complaining how tired he is and very rude when you approach reception....

As soon as I booked this hostel I started to have doubts after reading some of the reviews. After staying at the Elephant I want to advocate for it as I think some people who write these reviews need to consider what they were booking or thought it should be hotel standard. It’s a hostel and as such only expect...

TL;DR: cockroaches, dirty, uncomfortable, avoid at all costs. This place is derelict. My sister and I stayed here for 4 nights, after we originally booked in for 7 but the place is so awful we could not bear to stay any longer. When we arrived we were met with rude staff who did not tell us anything about the hostel...

I chose this hostel as it was close to the city and several reviews indicated it was a quiet hostel and it was cheap compared to many other places. I was happy with my stay! The hostel didn't have the usual rowdiness or parties you often encounter at budget youth hostels so I was able to get a very good...

Came here for 8 days, the location is perfect I can't complain about that, the rooms are basic, the only thing that was a bit annoying about the hostel was that I came alone and there were no common room or nothing... I think at backpackers hostels that is really important, there was just no fun vibes at all to...

This hostel is not going to win any beauty awards but it was clean and quiet enough for a few nights stay. The complaints I've seen are unfair as some expectations were set way too high. Sydney is a VERY expensive city to visit. From my quick checks before booking, just average hotels cost $100-$150 a night or maybe even...

Totally better than what I expected -- it's a social place but not loud at night. They’d just started free breakfast - simple but good. Stayed at hostel a couple of nights. Value was pretty good overall. Place was clean and rooms were well managed.

A friend has already written a review but Elephant Backpackers was so bad that I am equally compelled to write one as word of warning. We are two young travellers currently travelling Australia. We are not picky, and understand that generally in hostels you get what you pay for. However, the level of dirt and filth in Elephant was enough...

By far the worst hostel we have stayed in in Australia. Upon arrival the manager insisted that the deposit we had already paid to the hostel was a hostelworld charge and tried to make us pay more money on top of what was owed. He was rude, unhelpful and unpleasant. The room we were given was dark, dirty and smelt...
