I visited Sydney to see the lights at Vivid. Friends had recommended the hotel and I have to say it is excellent and ticked all the boxes for me. If you want to see Vivid it is the place to stay. You can watch most...More
There are many reviews talking the location and while it is true that the Rocks is a great place to stay I’d like to think there is a better place to stay. There are plenty of other hotels in the area. The hotel itself is...More
The Holiday Inn Old Sydney is a great location to experience Vivid. We stayed in a standard room and while a bit dated it was perfect for visiting Sydney and experiencing Vivid. The tariff was very reasonable, the room was clean, views to the Opera...More
A great hotel and very handy location for those who want to explore The Rocks, Circular Quay and Sydney Harbour. It was a great location to explore the Vivid Light Festival. The roof top gave a wonderful vista of the Vivid show.

It is a pleasure to receive positive feedback.
We certainly do have an incredible location nestled in the heart of Sydney and it is great to read you were able to explore the local area
We hope that you had a pleasant trip...More
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The
weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.

There are local opportunities that are easily booked once you get there. For example, Captain Cook run Sydney Harbour tours and they can be booked at the wharf at Circular Quay which is a 5 to 10 minute stroll from the hotel. There is a lot to see and do within walking distance. I am sure the hotel can also recommended and book tours as well.
