Very nice place. We had a private room with toilet and shower inside. The bathroom as well as the room was very new, modern and clean. The view from the rooftop and the location are awesome. It’s easy to prepare your own food and enjoy it on the rooftop looking at the opera and the harbor bridge. The only thing...

This hostel far exceeded my expectations. Situated in "The Rocks," an historic and charming neighborhood, the location could not be better. It is a short stroll to the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and the Royal Botanic Gardens. The view from the fourth floor terrace can't be beat. Clean rooms and a sparkling, well-appointed kitchen. Staff was wonderful!...

Stayed at sydney Harbour yha for 7 days, three nights in a 4 bed dorm and four nights in a 6 bad dorm. It was my first hostel experience and I loved it there. Reception staff were really helpful and welcoming. The rooms were a good size, I actually preferred the 6 bed dorm as the toilet and shower were...

Hi Katie We're delighted you enjoyed your stay - a great start to your trip to Australia! We always suggest people look at the directions to the hostel on our website - we have a pdf there with detailed info, as there are lots of little streets and laneways in the Rocks (part of its charm!). Hope we see you...

I stayed here for 1 night in February. I was AMAZED by the view on the rooftop! I paid around £15 for one night and you share the view with the Shangri-La Hotel which is a few hundred per night. The rooftop always has a good few people on there so it's easy to make friends, that's where I made...

Recently stayed here for 4 days. Hostel is in a wonderful location close to the harbour and iconic bridge. Rooms are quite basic, but there are common areas near the lobby for cooking and refrigeration units.

Hi megamiles. Delighted you enjoyed your stay. Our rooms are relatively plain, but as a hostel, we put lots of effort into our communal space - a comfy lounge, large self-catering kitchen and that super big terrace. All the bedrooms are ensuite too. Hope we get to see you again soon.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! super clean, super friendly staff. i stayed in a 4 shared female dorms. i loved that the room was clean, that each bed had its own lamp and charging facilities. a huge plus is that each guest has its own locker, they are big and super comfortable and also has electricity in them so you can leave...

Wonderful location, good facilities, friendly helpful staff ... all round, great value! It also has an interesting "back story", being built over an archaeological dig. Stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. The rooms are small and simple but very comfortable. There is a well equipped kitchen area, and you can buy enough from the little cafe for a...

Hi Candi - We're really pleased you enjoyed staying with us. The hostel is indeed over an important site - remnants of some of the earliest colonial buildings in Australia. There is lots around to read about it, or people can join our regular free tour that tells people all about the history of the site. Hope we see you...

As you see all the reviews it is better than a hostel. Location is just fantastic. From our room we could see Opera House. The roof is worth having a dinner on. You can walk to a lot of attractions. The location I repeat is supreme and for this money you cannot find better value in Sydney.

This is not what comes to mind when you think "hostel". As everyone has already said, well-run, clean, perfect location. Lots of families and middle aged - older folks so not just young kids. Just be aware that the place is situated in The Rocks which is literally above the main streets and harbor area. So lots of steep stairs...

A great hostel in an excellent location. Our only problem was getting the air-conditioner to work on a muggy, 39 degree day. Turns out you need the windows locked, not just closed. Once we figured that out the stay was superb. The private room was basic but clean and comfortable, and the ensuite was very convenient. The secluded roof top...

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
