I stayed here overnight as a getaway to Sydney from Brisbane. I haven't stayed in many hotels in Sydney but this is in a very good location, 5 minute walk from Central Station. The hotel is fine from the outside, typical art deco style and it's the same inside. If you like old architecture, you'll love this. This isn't a...

Located close to the station and Darling Harbour with plenty of transport options available. Nice to see the Art Deco design retained and pleasantly surprised by the comfort and quality of our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we would use the hotel again although the restaurant food (breakfast) was very poor and not satisfactory to say...

This accommodation was booked by our travel agent. We were expecting 3.5 star. We arrived late into Sydney after a long journey and were dropped down the road by our taxi (no taxi drop off at front of hotel - we later learned that taxi's pick up and drop off around the back). We walked back a couple of blocks...

We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is a bit tired but the rooms are clean and tidy. The meals weren't bad either for the price but the best thing is the location. The free bus (555) stops outside and takes you down to the quay. You can also catch the official bus bus outside, which is good value for...

Location's great cos' it's just next to Chinatown. We can find food at almost anytime of the day. There's also a coles and woolworth around the corner. But the layout of the building makes it difficult to find our rooms, need some time to get oriented. Took us a while to figure out the fastest way to get to our...

Hi - We stayed two nights at the Great Southern Hotel Sydney 13th and 14th April. We found the Room very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are many restaurants in the area to choose . It is a five minute walk from Central Station and halfway to station is the YMCA restaurant where we...

The hotel is old and in need of updating. Its clean but lacks amenities ie pool, fitness center, bellman service, book exchange or internet room. You have to pay extra for the already installed room safe. The room temperature is controlled by the front desk so to raise or lower, it requires contacting then each time. Jimmy at the front...

My wife and I stayed for 5 night and could not have been happier. Location is ideal (e.g. We were 2 mins walk from the Capitol Theatre where we saw Les Miserables "Fantastic Show") and the hotel is close to the city with the free 555 bus passing by the front door taking 10 min to get to Darling Harbour...

Location of this hotel was great- near to central tube and walkable down town to Harbour and opera house if you wanted a nice stroll and not raining. Noisy rooms and very old fashioned decor and beds.Twin beds very close together and brown blankets- like 1970's hotel. Wardrobe ok with safe in but no details re what to do to...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighbourhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theatre, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
