If you're looking for the pristine/sterile 5-star ambience that most American hotels try to convey, this is not the place for you. We stayed in one of the cabins which came with 4 beds, a bathroom, a small kitchen, and a TV. The cabin was very rustic, with furniture and appliances typical of the area. The TV had SKY satellite...

We were staying in a cabin. This was quite comfortable, with a fireplace, a gas heater, and all the amenities needed. Lots of blankets. The price-quality ratio is quite OK. The owner, Don Armando, is a relaxed man, and always willing to give advise about tours and sight seeing. The restaurant, run by mother and doughter, is OK, even continental...

Lovely wooden buildings with facilities to cook if you wanted. It was very cold up here at night but there were enough blankets to keep a large family...

There is still some other lodgings around close to the beautiful and incredibly stunning Copper Canyon, but it seemed that the price range differs a lot and we were travelling on the economic side....

At the time we were at Señor Diaz' place no other place at Posada Barrancas could offer something as good as this. Reasonable prices, nice rooms, hot showers, good mexican comida, private, peaceful and calm atmosphere and very friendly and helpful hosts indeed. All situated very close to the stunning copper canyon!

Lonely Planet, in its typically lazy way, lists a handful of budget hotels in the Copper Canyon area based on dated experience and missing out several better options entirely. Cabanas Diaz gets a glowing LP review and I checked in there. The rooms are clean enough, but the whole place -- cabins set round a rathre dismal compound -- is...
