We stopped here on our way further north into Northumberland for lunch and despite not having a reservation were quickly shown to a table in the bar area after a nice warm welcome from the staff. We ordered drinks at the bar and gave them our food order at the same time. Within about 5 minutes two plates of quite...

We stayed here 1 night en route from Scotland to the south. Located just outside the village of Slaley, lovely rural setting, by a road but not noisy. Good off-road parking. Small room but perfectly comfortable. Very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Delicious evening meal in the bar: sea bass, game cobbler, excellent ales. Lots of locals eating...

Booked this lovely pub/hotel per chance to break up a motorbike trip from Fort William, Scotland back to Norfolk. It was a well run, quaint rural pub, wonderful hospitality provided by the landlord and staff and friendly atmosphere. Fantastic 'home cooked' meal in the evening and cracking breakfast in the morning. And excellent value for money (we paid £70 for...

Excellent food and excellent service, well worth a visit. 6 of us all rated this 5 star. Best of food and a relaxed friendly place to eat. Highly recommended for a great pub meal. Go. The steak pie and fish & chips were the best. Never made it to the puddings, what a fill. Nobody was disappointed, all had starters...

Lovely comfortable bed. Great views. Clean and tidy. Great food. Made to feel welcome and enjoyed our stay. Wonderful break in the countryside. Weather was kind to us too! Visited Derwent reservoir and Robin hood tree at Sycamore Gap within easy reach.

Chose this place as it was nearby to where our friends were getting married. Lovely clean room and welcoming staff. The breakfast was extremely tasty and plenty of options to choose from. Everything we needed for our short visit and reasonably priced. Not much in the immediate vicinity but plenty a short drive away.

We have a caravan at nearby Springhouse Country Park and over the past four years have called in for lunch/refreshments at the Travellers Rest on a regular basis and therefore think it's time a added a review. Extensive menu and every meal is presented well and the portion sizes are more than adequate. Excellent play area and seating outside during...

Visited this pub on 3 occasions during our one week stay at Slaley Hall. Great food freshly cooked and nothing disappointed. Between us we tried the fish and chips, steak, Thai curry, burger, duck, salmon and a range of starters. All very good and the desserts were fab & beautifully presented. Family and visiting friends all happy, would definitely eat...
