Having had a busy couple of weeks before, my wife and I went to Slayley Hall for a break to unwind. We arrived at about 4.30 pm and was promptly checked in by Edward who was very friendly and professional in his manner. A credit to the hotel. We were shown our room and was pleasantly surprised at the way...

We visited in a group of some 50-60 parents and teenagers for a rugby tour in the North East for 15 year olds. The hotel was not particularly busy, maybe half full at most. There were no events, weddings etc going on, but the service we received was really quite poor for a hotel which should be able to cope...

Had a great time away! Stayed dinner, bed and breakfast and it was great! Would recommend this hotel! The food in the restaurants were lovely and the serve was great! Waitress Holly was especially friendly. I will 100% be coming back again.

This was our first visit to the North East. We selected Slaley Hall following a promotional email from Travel Zoo. What a good choice. We had travelled over during storm Doris and encountered some fairly rough weather on the way there but when we arrived we found that everything was there to sooth our somewhat stormy journey. On arrival the...

I booked a spa day at slaley hall for me and my Mam as a Christmas present. I hadn't been before and was really looking forward to booked spa treatments, afternoon tea and use of the facilities. Slaley hall is beautiful and even though it took us 45 minutes to get there the scenery and countryside was worth it. When...

I stayed at Slaley hall for a relaxing weekend with my wife for our anniversary. We were greeted on reception by I think her name was Amy. She was friendly and welcoming. Her conversation was flowing and not forced so we felt like we actually welcomed to the hotel and not just another guest to check in! Although we were...

I was here with my husband for my birthday for the weekend. Initially I was disappointed I couldn't get booked for any treatments in the spa however the staff made up for it. The high tea was excellent as was the room. The staff were really thoughtful and it was a lovely touch to be wished happy birthday by them...

We visited Slaley on the strength of a previous visit. Unfortunately we were disappointed this time. Rooms were of a lower standard than our last visit. We waited over half an hour for ordered drinks to be delivered. Plastic pint glasses given to drink Prosecco out of. Changing rooms were an absolute disgrace. Piles of used towels and robes piled...

Visited Slaley Hall for the first time in a number of years to use the leisure facilities and afternoon tea. My first impression is that the facilities were a bit jaded and service throughout the hotel was slow. The drinks bar in the pool area was expensive and the member of staff spent most of the day in the back...

We have been here before and enjoyed it very much, hence our return. Unfortunately our experiences were not so good this time. The changing rooms are completely inadequate for the amount of people using them. The floors everywhere were swimming in water, the basket for towels overflowing, nowhere to hang your towels in the showers and general shabbiness everywhere. There...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Not 100, not 500 but 1000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest play home to this magnificent, elegant Edwardian mansion. That the interiors are almost as dramatic as the exterior says it all. This is very old world grandeur with a modern twist. Bask in the warmth of the reception you receive on arrival, dine at Hadrian's Brasserie, or at the Duke's Grill. Indulge with a Vichy water spa treatment or just flop in the fantastic indoor pool. The great outdoors doesn’t get much greater. After a bracing country walk in the wilds, or round on our championship golf course, retire to the Claret Jug and the 19th Bar for a stiff brandy. Surely you deserve it ? ... more   less
