Jokiniemen matkailu was an excellent place to stay and we couldn't have been more pleased with the cabin "Koukku" and the friendly service. Also the ski routes near the cabin were perfect for a "Sunday " skier". Full recommendation to hot tub and slide snow shoes too! Hope to come back in the summer time!

Nice quiet place to relax, cabins have good view to the lake. Good place for looking northern lights or sunsets. Cabin was well equipped and warm. Beautiful place to get away from city and see the nature`s beauty. I was travelling with children and was expecting good northern lights show. We didn`t have to dissapoint, it was great to be able to see all the show in front of the cabin.

Great place to relax at the lakeside. Beautifull modern guestquarters, spacy and comfortable. Two kitchens for use by the guests, sauna and internet . Enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. Breakfast is fantastic.

Had to write a review on this place seeing there’s not much on it in TripaAdvisor, which is a real shame as it is a charm.
We needed a place to stay for a night on our way to Lapland from Lappeenranta over Christmas. The photos of a log cabin by a lake that we saw what sold us to this place.
It was a beautiful beautiful place what with the lake, trees, serenity, cabins nicely spaced out. Our cabin was warm and equipped with kitchen utensils, firewood, and comfy beds (extra charges for bedding). More wood outside if needed. The waste recycling was a bit stringent than the other parts of Finland that we travelled to.
Outside was terribly cold & very windy, but loved it. We’re Asians and allowed this idiosyncrasy.
Can imagine how much more we would have loved this place in spring/ summer. Our Finnish friends informed us the log cabins, particularly the type of log used for the cabin that we stayed in, is now difficult to come by.
We arrived in the evening and was already getting dark. Pretty sure, without our trusted GPS, we wouldn’t have found the place - dark or not, as it was quite a bit out of the way. From the reception, the owner’s home, to our cabin was a real slow drive as it was pitch black if not for our headlights.
A different and truly lovely experience for us at Jokiniemen Matkailu Cottages
Note: 4 months after the fact, when we were reminiscing our hols, 2 friends said the place gave them the creeps. Oh well… the other 3 didn’t think so, so Jokiniemen Matkailu Cottages is a win!
