Very kind wait staff in restaurant and breakfast room. Excellent breakfast. Dinner was good; portions were quite large. Leftovers not an option since the room refrigerator was broken. Reception manager was annoyed that we pointed out the broken refrigerator (she was quick to assure us she knew about it already), and a broken hair dryer. Her solution to the hair dryer was to ensure it’s plugged in. Ack. Decor is a mix of “period” pieces and antique collections in common spaces; and 50s/60s-era knotty pine updates to guest rooms. It is a quaint moment in time. Outdoor terrace for dinner/drinks is quite nice. One of only 2 hotels in a 12-day trip that had a bathroom exhaust fan, and the only one to provide terry robes...well done.

Can be very busy during the autumn vacation but service was very good. Fish (Forelle, local trout) always very good, excellent wine selection. Also, salad buffet fresh and included, very nice dessert and overall nice traditional athmosphere!

The new owners try to keep the standards of this famous hotel. They need more empathy and obligingness, cleanliness and hygiene must get better. The stuff is ok. Our 8 years old boy felt out of his bed at night, because this "bed" had no compatible parts (different sizes of lounger and mattress) : after my reclamation no words of regret. The floor of the bathroom wasn't proper and too many flies were marching over cheese aud ham during the breakfast buffet. An insect was swimming in the water for the drinks. I know this hotel more than 20 years. Never with such bad conditions.

This is the third time that we stay one week at this historical hotel (no frills), which will celebrate 400 years of existence in 4 years. It is amazing the silence during the night and its location in the middle of the Goms valley. Our arrangement included dinner and we enjoyed local wines.
