The hotel has 17 dbl rooms, 6 sgl rooms, 2 trpl rooms and 1 suite. The rooms are clean, rather large, with light colours, good light through large windows, night opened window with mosquito net. Rooms to the Market Place had a marvellous sun in summer eves, could however be some annoyed by traffic in the morning. Rooms to the yard were more quiet, but summer mornings could be hot.
The reception was most helpful. Russian speaking is highly recommended, as elsewhere in the town.
After checking out the hotel lacked cloak room, but was helpful to store luggage in the office corridor of the reception.
A restaurant within the building served breakfast in agreement with hotel, close to reception, but breakfast time was some less practical, as served first from 9 o'clock in the morning. The breakfast was very scarce (minimalistic): porridge or eggs in different variants, one piece of toast and coffee/tea. It could happen that we were informed that porridge was not available, but neighbour tables became.
In the same building (1st floor) was an excellent cafeteria, which served 09:00-19:00 hours, and that is highly recommended for any meal, e.g. lunch with a good menu, including good Russian ice cream for the coffee in varieties. The service was good, swiftly delivered.
3 restaurants were located in the town, with varying levels of menu choices.
The breakfast restaurant was in day and evening time an excellent Sushi restaurant, also with other dishes. The menu was really valid, and we could enjoy a marvellous dinner. For Sushi we required a white wine, but it seemed that the staff was not used to serve it cool. This was resolved, however, providing a champagne cooler.
Generally, out of the metropols in Russia you will get good value for money when travelling.
Once there, the staff spoke just enough English to check us in and make sure we paid in advance. When we wanted to hire a car/taxi the next day they themselves couldn't help but had the number of an English speaker, who they called for us and had her translate our requests so that without much delay we did get a car. And luckily also an idea of the price we would have to pay - the driver at first actually asked 10 times that!!! The hotel seemed pretty much deserted, maybe owing to the bad weather that day.
The room was comfy enough and though the furniture was Spartan and old, it was as clean as I would have wished for. The bathroom, too. Showers were hot with a strong flow and big bathtub. In the corridor was a free cool and warm water dispenser, but there is no Wi-Fi available.
Breakfast was included. Since the hotel has no restaurant we got vouchers for the Asian restaurant adjacent to the hotel. That was also the only place in town we found dinner the night we arrived. It was good enough but relatively pricy. Staff were friendly and very eager to help, despite their very limited English.
In any case I would recommend this hotel as it seems to be the easiest, if not only, option for non-Russian speakers and it was nice enough with friendly and helpful staff.
The only thing that really bothers - we needed to wait for warm water for some time, and kept the taps open for several minutes until the cold water run off. But suppose this was because the hotel was empty in low-season (February).
