Spent a week here in February as a family of 7. 4 adults, 2 children and a baby. We stayed in the largest appt which had 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed we pulled out in the nights. Appts are finished to an incredibly high standard with beautiful interiors, linens, well equipped kitchen and the sauna and hot tub. They are also beautifully warm.
The location is just fantastic for skiing ....literally ski to the door on the blue run (number 18 if I remember correctly) and the family park and ski school meeting point is right outside the door. It’s in the valley area which means to get to the more bustling village you need to get the 6 min gondola or if that’s not running the ski bus...we needed to get over to the village fairly frequently as when we stayed there, the (very small) supermarket in the appt block was yet to open and as a large family we needed to get supplies often! We loved Ruka as it is perfect for young kids or adults learning to ski. Granted, length and number of runs is limited for the more proficient skier looking to ski for hours at a time, but for us, the delight of no queues, quiet slopes, magical scenery, camp fires, reindeers and huskies, flood lit slopes , mega short airport transfer time and the additional apres ski activities, Ruka was a winner. We Can’t wait to return.

Newly opened only 2 weeks ago. Ideal location for slopes and gondola to get over to village. Small supermarket opening soon. Camp Kitchen good atmosphere serving delicious meals.
Our apartment was a 52 apparently for 6 people. We over looked the slopes and enjoyed watching people skiing. However they do groom the slopes every night till past 4 am and this did keep us awake as rooms and windows not got good sound proofing. So if you a light sleeper choose a room overlooking car park. How you would fit 6 people in this the largest apartment here I have no idea only just comfortable with the 2 of us. The bedrooms are good 1 with twin beds and 1 with twin beds put together with an en suite. We did not use the shower in here as it is tiny. The other wet room with sauna in is a good size so used shower in here.
The hot tub on balcony was great after skiing followed by the sauna. The hot tub had no steps to get into so unless you above 5’7” very hard to get in and out of. We did explain to reception and they did get me a bench to use.
Be careful when opening or closing the sauna as handle gets very very hot ( bad design).
The kitchen is small but very well equipped with everything you need.

We had a brilliant stay at the Ruka Valley Apartments with Crystal Holidays! We stayed in a family studio which was an ideal size for a family of 4 and had everything we needed for our self catering holiday. We loved being so close to the slopes and having our own ski locker outside the door. We also found the drying cabinet really handy too. The accommodation is finished to a really lovely standard, the beds were very comfy and we loved having our own sauna to warm up after a long days skiing! The staff were very friendly and helped us book taxis for our trip to Lammintupa Winter Village where we did husky sledging and snow mobiles for the children. Ruka Valley was much quieter than the village side which we really liked but it's easy enough to hop on the Gondola to visit Ruka Village where there are lots more bars and restaurants and a bigger grocery shop. There is a shop on the valley side which stocked most things you would need but there was a little more choice in the village shop. Ruka Valley is ideal for families and beginners as it is located by the nursery slope and the family park. We had two lovely meals in the Camp Kitchen and Bar which is within the same building. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious! We fell in love with Ruka Valley and would love to return again soon for another amazing holiday in a winter wonderland!

We took the risk of staying at this new hotel and it certainly paid off! I have split my review into accommodation, skiing and excursions.
With the hotel being new, there weren’t many reviews on here and we were delighted when we arrived. We stayed in a room with a sauna and jacuzzi on the balcony. The rooms were up to date, with TV’s, an oven, microwave and hob. The beds were very comfy and everything felt brand new. Out of the room, the breakfast was great. A range of fruits and cakes; hot food; fresh bread and waffles each morning. The location of the apartments could not be better. It is the only hotel on the Ruka Valley side but this is where most the ski lifts are. You can hop on the gondola (open until 7pm) to get to ruka village/ or get a taxi (only 5 minutes) where more restaurants and bars are. The manager (Jussi) was a great help when we had a slight issue and he did everything to help. We ski regularly and this has to be one of the best accommodations we have stayed in.
The skiing is great. If you are used to the Alps it will be completely different. The snow is soft and lots of it! We completed all the runs and came across no ice! The runs are lovely, picturesque and empty. It doesn’t take long to get down to the bottom but it doesn’t take long to get back up!! The queues are small with lots of lifts. On NYE it was slightly busier with a few locals, but it was manageable. The slopes are all lit up and open from 9:30am - 7pm (on Friday they open until 11pm). It is cold, but as the hotel is ski in/out you can go inside to warm up before heading back out! There is something for everyone on the slopes. The red/blacks are challenging enough with a snow park fit for anyone who wants a real challenge! The blues are lovely for new skiers (and a ski school as well). Overall, the skiing is fantastic and a great experience.
Finally, we went on a couple of excursions (Santa’s grotto, snowmobiling, husky ride and Reindeer Farm). There are many more available and the Crystal Ski reps were really helpful as to which ones to pick. If you are tempted to visit Ruka, I would certainly recommend it - it is magical!

Absolutely Fabulous!
We booked half board with Crystal Ski and had a very comfortable studio apartment which more than suited our needs. Small kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, kettle, fridge, washing up liquid, kitchen towel, dishcloths tea towels, and a small amount of tea, milk, sugar, & instant coffee.
Sauna was great and used daily!
Bathroom had hand soap dispenser and a shower body wash dispenser, hairdryer & towels.
The apartment was very clean, warm and homely it also a great drying cupboard. TV was good but not a smart TV so very limited channels. There’s a great laundry room on floor 4 free to use and Small shop on the ground floor.
Half board was taken on ground floor in The Camp Kitchen restaurant, breakfast was buffet style, scrambled & bold eggs, mini hotdogs sausages, hams, cheese melon, yogurt, fruit compote, cereals, pancakes, porridge, breads, tea, coffee & juice.
Evening meal was a set menu.
The lovely friendly staff were happy to adapt things a little when asked.
The Ski lockers are just outside the building so nice and easy.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Ski- Inn Ruka and the ski resort was perfect for us as mix of beginners intermediate and advanced skiers snowboarder.
We will definitely return again soon. ❤️🇫🇮

Stayed at the Ruka Valley Hotel booked with Crystal Ski 23rd Jan 2022 for 7 nights and I can say it was an absolute delight to stay here and relax.
The views from the room overlooked the hills and forest covered in the most beautiful powdery snow each morning.
Breakfast was a good choice of food each morning (eggs, sausage, bread, cheese, fruit, waffles, etc.)
Evening meal did feel a little the same though, with the same options to choose each time, regardless of this, the food that came out each time was cooked beautifully. Only suggestion here would be to change the evening menu a little each night if possible/more choice.
The Hotel itself is located literally steps away from the gondola that can take in you into the village or the the top of the piste where you can ski down into Ruka Village and enjoy some local beers and cuisine.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at this friendly hotel, with the staff making it extra special the whole time.
We will be returning to this hotel and its not very often I say that!

We just returned from a 6 nights stay at RukaValley and would gladly recommend this place for anyone. The hotel is ideally located right next to the slopes and is only a gondola right away from Ruka Village. We stayed in one of the lux rooms, which was nice but nothing special. We really enjoyed the sauna, also the drying cabinet was such a good thing to have. However, we missed more hanging space for clothes (although there was plenty of storage place, there was no place to really hang your clothes) and thought that the beds were really not that great as the mattress topper was too thin and flimsy (made it easy for you to fall off the bed). Also, we still don’t kind of understand the concept of the hotel, is it a hotel or apartments as you get a hotel breakfast but on the other hand don’t have housekeeping. We thought the other facilities of the hotel were excellent. The ski storage was good and placed conveniently. Would also highly recommend their restaurant (Camp Kitchen and Bar). Everything we ate there, whether lunch or dinner, was excellent and the service was great. Lastly, the tiny K-kauppa grocery store was the cutest thing and had everything we could think off.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Ruka Valley Ski Inn staying in a Ruka Valley 58 with hot tub and Sauna. This is a new hotel still being finished. The rooms have been finished to a high standard. Previously we have stayed in the village but even for a couple of days when the gondola couldn’t run due to high winds it was still easy enough to get to the village as they had regular buses running or in the evening there was a snowmobile running. The hotel is so well situated for the ski slopes and the children’s ski area. Camp kitchen and cafe which is downstairs was very good for hot choc and doughnut and good for lunch and evening meals. Food and service both excellent and better than some restaurants in the village. There is small K Mart shop which has now opened. We would definitely stay here again if returning to Ruka.

Excellent apartment with doorstep skiing.
This was our second time staying here as we really enjoy the quiet location of the valley.
The apartment was clean, warm and very comfortable.
We were again HB so buffet breakfast 8am-10am it was a medium spread of breads cheese, ham, mini hot dogs, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, pancakes, fruit, jam, yogurt, porridge, tea, coffee and juices. Meals all taken on ground floor at Camp Kitchen. This visit the evening meal 8pm -9pm was also buffet but this can change depending on the busyness of the hotel to an off the menu choice and times could vary.
Daily soup, bread, salad,
1 main option no other choice. 1 dessert option. During our week we had Tai coconut chicken curry, meatballs, chicken tikka, salmon, lasagna, fish and chips.
The food was pretty good so no complaints. Evening meals times are very late and we’d definitely prefer earlier but we managed ok. The TV in our apartment had very limited channels and the WiFi was very poor but did work well in the restaurant. Hopefully the WiFi will be better if we book again.

Started our 7 night stay in Ruka valley apartments on Christmas Eve 2023 . Didn’t start well as we didn’t seem to have a bed for our ten year old . We were told it’s under the other two singles that were made up . We revisited the room and found a mattress on small caster wheels . We were then told that’s it and no one was going to make it up or help in anyway like where to put it as space was a little limited . As the title suggests the answer so far has been no . We requested extra pillows and was refused , later in the week we asked for towels again the answer is “no” . Seems Pinja only knows “no” as an answer to any of our requests. I have asked to speak to the manager tonight but that was also a “no “ as it was 945pm . No regard for trying to keep a family happy at the reception .
So far the food has been a buffet every night and has changed the main offering each night . Wine starts at 12€ a glass of wine. Obviously Finland is very expensive and you can buy a bottle for 90€ for only a half decent drop .
Tonight food was chicken tikka. Which was very nice but it ran out twice halfway through service . I did manage to get fed but only just tonight . Last night was. Meat balls and mash . Gala dinner was meats and mashed carrot or mashed turnip .
