I have personally run a self catering cottage since 1994 so hopefully know how to treat hirers. Overall we were not impressed. On entering our cottage (Helm Cottage) we found only 3 out of 9 light bulbs on the ground floor worked and a double wall light was missing a bulb altogether. This meant that someone (albeit an idiot) could...

The cottage was ok,however the same can't be said for the furniture. One seat had a cupboard door under cushion as the seat was broken the other furniture was not much better. No hot water only look warm which is a major problem. As all cottages are close to each other it felt at time you were constantly watched

Just gotten back from a long weekend in Gamblesby. Peter and Ruth couldn't do enough for us. Everywhere was clean, all facilities that we could possibly require. We will certainly make a return visit!

After reading some of the reviews before we set off, we were a bit anxious about what to expect. However,we had a friendly welcome from Peter. He quickly ran through basic info, and then politely left us to settle in, saying if there was anything we needed, to let him know. The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed,...

After reading some of the recent reviews we went quite a bit of trepidation. We got a warm welcome and were shown to our cottage. The cottages are lovely but could do with updating with some TLC, the carpets and furniture as serviceable but old. The area is beautiful but no shops or pubs which are over a mile away...

After reading the reports on these cottages we were a bit dubious in going, but thought we would give it the benefit of doubt. So glad we did, as after a horrendous journey up (took 9hrs) we were greeted with a real friendly face of Ruth and a bottle of wine. We stayed in Helm Cottage which was really nice...

Stayed in Hawthorne - a comfy, well equipped cottage. Ruth and Peter are lovely and very helpful. They even ensured we had good weather :D Plenty of Inns within easy reach for those, like me, that don't want to cook. Particularly liked the lack Swan at Culgaith. You don't need to travel fat to find good walks

We were suppose to go to this accommodation for our 45th wedding anniversary. I am going to keep this short because we finally didn't go, because on the last minute the owners changed the terms & conditions. We paid £150 for the break with a Wowcher & were told that because we weren't "FULL PAYING GUEST'S" the terms advertised were...

I called the owners to raise my concerns about extra charges for towels bedding etc which was never put in the add.l cancelled and called wowcher who sent emails but...

I would firstly like to say that all around this area and the Lakes are stunningly beautiful and can't wait to go back to explore more of this part of the country. However, it would definitely not be to these cottages. Luckily there are many places to stay. We arrived early evening and was just looking forward to a cup...
