We booked The Leather Bottle on the same day as we wanted to dine, this wasn't a problem and after a short phone call we were booked in. We had often driven past this pub/restaurant and always wanted to dine there, so yesterday we were granted our wish, I have to say we shall certainly be booking again. We drove...

Visited for lunch after trip to Gravesend. Beautiful building in pretty village but service a bit hit hit and miss. Three people serving half empty restaurant but did not seem to be any system in place to serve diners. People were friendly enough but a little chaotic. Ok if you have plenty of time. Could be so much better if...

I was particularly interested in this pub for the Dickens connection. A lady I assumed was the manager saw me looking at the walls and offered to take me for a tour - before we'd even walked up to the bar! Fascinating artefacts, such as Dickens's bag and even a piece of his hair, were carefully shown to us, which...

We recently had a lovely family Sunday lunch in the restaurant, all 9 of us! We don't live in the area any more so we're a little apprehensive but needn't have worried as lovely food , friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely would go there again.

Pub has a very large garden and very good for sunny days. Interior of pub is also very good and the staff are very pleasant. But the meals we found were a bit on the expensive side - Ham egg and chips for example £11.95 and they were nothing special. Other pubs in the area are cheaper and provide just...

My wife & I stayed on 9th March for one night after hunting around the internet for somewhere in the area. What a great discovery that was, an authentic old country pub/hotel hidden away from the motorway. The staff were lovely & the food was excellent, in fact the whole setting couldn't be better after an eight hour drive from...

Never stayed as a guest, but have eaten there a few times. Good Hearty food, well cooked and tasty. In keeping with its historic Dickensian background. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. They are often busy, particularly for Sunday lunch so if you are popping in for drink only during the colder weather you're unlikely to be able to sit...

Visited at lunchtime. My husband had the ham hock suet pudding from the Specials menu and I had the Huntsman's platter - pate, cheeses, ham, salad, pickle and bread. Both were delicious! Service was good.

Popped in for a quick drink one Sunday morning after a lovely country walk. Good selection of beers on offer but disappointed that we couldn't sit down at a table to rest and enjoy our drink as all the tables were reserved for lunch. I can understand doing this in the restaurant area but this was the bar section.

Thank you for your review, unfortunately we are a very busy establishment and the tables have reserved on them as people have called in advance. As Sunday is one of our most busiest days all our tables get taken up very early, We always recommend to book in advance as our bar area is also available to dine here.

My partner and I often come here as we love it. By the looks of it so do the locals. This pub is always busy and never seems to amaze us with the quality of the food. The food is always hot and lovely. It has reasonable prices and has a lovely beer garden backing on to country fields. You...
