My wife and six children aged in summer 2020 between 14 and 11 months stayed here for 28 nights in our tent. We had booked before the Covid outbreak and decided to proceed with our stay. Clearly our experience in 2020 was far from normal given the pandemic had led to a collapse in bookings. Therefore the purpose of this review is to share what i feel may be of use to potential visitors knowing that my experience was not typical of a normal summer. The campsite is in a very rural and mountainous area and therefore cycling is best suited to motivated adults seeking views or very active teenagers. The campsite itself is not suitable for scooters or bikes as it descends from the entrance downhill so might also present issues for those with walking difficulty. The campsite is very neat and tidy and well maintained and shared areas are clean and showers satisfactory. The view from the clean pool and sun chairs is very pleasant and expansive and in general it is easy to relax at the site. This is a campsite in France run by English people so is not a textbook site from French schooldays. The hosts are kind, helpful and pleasant and obviously summer 2020 would have been quite different for them too and i presume somewhat of a disappointment in terms of visitor numbers. The area itself is pretty but there are a fairly limited amount of attractions. Also the weather is hot, 38 degrees sometimes and the heat will likely stifle all but the most ambitious of culture seekers. Nearby Foix with its castle is an easy and worthwhile day trip as is the Space museum in Toulouse. Narbonne plage is over 2 hours away but worth a visit for a day on the Mediterreanean. Auterive is the most convenient shopping town, with an excellent selection of supermarkets (about 20 minutes drive) though is somewhat uninteresting beyond the sheer novelty of being in France. Walks directly from the site are on quiet and scenic country roads and a car is essential for groceries. I would happily recommend the site for families seeking warm sunshine, good pitch sizes and a safe atmosphere. With or without children if you stay here you are going to need access to water just to cool down. There are lakes nearby and on water inflatable playgrounds as well as the campsite pool. You will need to use these on the very hot days. It was quiet when we were there so we never had trouble securing a sunbed or use of the pool. All in all i hope to return sometime in the future and miss immensely the long days in the sunshine as i write! When things get back to normal it would be an ideal sun worshipper break destination for even a short stay with Toulouse airport only 50 minutes away. The playground needs improvement but the pool table was huge hit in our family and was free at the point of use. Again the on site atmosphere would likely be very different to our experience in normal times but for someone wanting a quiet stay it might be a good opportunity this summer to try out camping in the sunshine knowing that you will have lots of space and a lovely pool to cool off in if the pandemic is still around!

What an amazing site. I don't really want to tell you about it. Because if I do, you'll know about it too, then your friends will...... :o) In these days of larger and over commercialized sites, to find such a hidden gem is fantastic. As campers all our lives (so over 100 year experience between us!), my husband and I truly rate Country Camping as one of the best sites we have ever been on. There are variety of pitches - large and spacious, some shaded in a lovely wooded area, others in sun, but with hedges for privacy and trees for welcome shade in the heat of the day. Electricity and water close to hand on all. Cars are parked separately making the whole site much safer for younger children, and quieter for all. The pool is kept immaculately clean and well maintained, is warm after many hot days but cooled down with frequent top ups, a delightful respite from searing midday temperatures in August - plenty of umbrellas and loungers. There is a quiet bar and indoor games room, volleyball and boules pitch, two simple but spotlessly clean shower blocks in the two main areas of the site. The views across to the Pyrennes are breathtaking. It's in a very rural and peaceful area, but a short drive will take you to market towns with facilities, and up in to the mountains for exploring. Toulouse and Foix are both less than an hour away. If you can be bothered to stir yourselves from the relaxing routine you can get into at the site that is! However, the best of this site has to be its owners. Without doubt they have the balance just right - friendly, helpful, fun, taking time for a chat but never intruding. They do a bread run six days a week - traditional and simple pain/croissants etc but very welcome as it means you really can stay all day without having to go out! They put on several themed evening "meals" every week - pizzas (famous - and delicious - wood oven cooked from scratch), fajitas, "junk food" night, cocktails and fancy ice creams for the little ones, and a splendid feast of a barbecue with Prawns, chicken, kebabs, sausages, salads - LOTS of salads and "cuisse de grenouille" so the kids can squeal! These turn out to be gentle but very social, family occasions - no pressure to join in - but we would really recommend - great value and thoroughly enjoyable.

We have just came back from the most amazing 2 weeks at this beautiful well kept sight ran by the most amazing family. We stayed in the chalet next to the pool which is a converted sauna house which has been transformed into somthing truly amazing it was very spacious and backed onto the most beautiful sights including the gourgous sun set and it really did exeided our expectations beyond belief. This is the second time we have stayed here and it most certainly will not be our last. We have a son who is 8 years old and he had the time of his life here. He was able to run free make friends and also had the pleasure of having his 8th birthday here, which the owners went above and beyond to make his day extra special. Somthing that will stay with us for ever. The sight is located near many attractions that suit both adults and children. It's always well kept clean and such a relaxed atmosphere. The food nights are one of a kind with the family spending many hours to produce the most tasty meals Bringing all campers together to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere. I would highly recommend this sight to all walks of life from couples to family's of all ages. Greatful for the time we spent here, the friends we made and memory's that will last a life time. Hope to see you all again very soon! The Smith family.

Damian, Yolanda and crew had the balance of service just right for our stay. We could mix in with the other guests around the fab pool/evening meal themes/volleyball games/bar etc or take a step back and chill in our own space at our tent. The site has awe inspiring views south towards the Pyrennes and is well positioned for visiting many glorious locations e.g. Carcassonne, Toulouse etc as well as the many attractive and historic local villages. The guests were 75% English. We highly recommend this campsite.

Had a great time, place is huge for kids to explore shower room small but clean. Children really enjoyed the trip we went during term time and looking at the visitors book and things I can see this place would be awesome to visit during school holidays. Owners couldn't do enough for my family and we definitely will visit again during school holidays. Amazing views of the moments and watched some awesome lightening storms at night. Felt safe and I felt the kids were safe and had loads of freedom to run round the site which is huge. We stayed in the dome tent with decking and it was plenty big enough. We flew into Toulouse and we hired a car.

We were looking for a site in southern France near the Pyrenees and this was recommended in the Guardian in an article about best country campsites. We got lucky and there was space and we booked to stay for a few nights. Turned out that we didn't leave for 13 nights as we had such a lovely time here. Yolanda, Damian, Bernie and John all grafted tirelessly throughout our stay to keep the site running smoothly and keep it really clean and tidy and above all welcoming. The whole family are incredibly hospitable and did so much to make our stay easy and restful, and beyond what I'd expect a campsite to provide. On top of all the amenities that make it very easy for a family to kick-back and have some time to relax (swimming pool, meal nights, laundry, clothes dryers, bar, friendly social spots, morning bread delivery), they also really helped us out sort out our van that was being problematic (Damian – we did actually make it back to Cornwall!) and had lots of advice on places to visit. Pitches are grassy and made private with hedges and a good size for us with a 4m bell tent and awning – we also had an amazing view of the Pyrenees. All in all – we've done a fair bit of camping in a real range of sites and this one ticked the boxes for me and partner and 5 year old: clean, friendly, well organised, great location for exploring and wonderful weather. Thank you everyone! I hope we'll see you all again soon!

What a find!! We were looking for an overnight stop just south of Toulouse and like so many visitors to this site stayed additional nights. It reminded me of family holidays when I was younger with such a warm welcome, made to feel part of their family. Much was offered on an honesty basis, even during your own beer if there was no-one around. The communal BBQ was fantastic, it could have been with friends in the garden. The site offered a huge indoor bar / games area and a fabulous pool. All pitches were excellent size, maintained to the highest standard and felt secluded with established hedges each side. I always used to say to my boss at work, get out of your office, walk around and chat to your staff - you will find out much more about moral by doing this. The hosts at this park did exactly that, wandered around the site, met their customers, asked how their holidays were, offered suggestions of places to go and built a rapport. One of the most enjoyable sites we have stayed at and highly recommended.

After our first visit in 2017, we decided to spend part of our holiday back at Country Camping and we were not disappointed. Our family love coming here; the hosts work tirelessly to keep the site running smoothly and everywhere is clean and tidy. The camping pitches are well spaced out and the views over the surrounding countryside and the distant views to the Pyrenees are superb. The site is quiet and all the amenities are close by. This is our favourite camping site by far and we would love to come back again some day.... Don’t believe the One Star rating left by a reviewer in 2017, it’s so far from the truth it’s unbelievable!

We just stayed for a week June 21st-27th in the bell tent (which they upgraded us to the deluxe for free) and apart from the fact the weather was amazing it was also an idyllic setting with beautiful surroundings and views of the southern french countryside and not too far away a view of the Pyranees. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and had literally everything we needed for our stay. Very well thought out and they have a lovely communal eating area should you want to get involved with the other campers and have a BBQ or a pizza evening. That said, should you want to have your own private meal there is everything implement you need to cook. Supermarkets are 15min drive away. Damien, John and Bernie were wonderful hosts and we will gladly plan future trips there to see them and the campsite again.

Have been here the last 2 years and heading back again this year. Family business very well thought out evenings for families Volleyball/ marshmallow roasting. Junk food night always popular ....lovely burgers/ hot dogs. Cocktail and Sundae night. Pizza night and best of all ......Hosts John and Bernie give their “all” for the wonderful Barbeque on a Saturday night. ....plenty of things to venture to in surrounding area Visited Foix last year for stage 13 of Tour De France. Visited Andorra also. Lovely lakes around to visit Lovely restaurants to choose from. No “local” shops as such but bread/Croissants can be ordered the previous evening and one of the staff goes every morning to a local Boulangerie.. Family have a book where other Campers have entered their experiences, this is a wonderful idea. Granddaughter Aimee can give lots of info on local Horse riding. Plenty of Large supermarkets to visit in Auterieve for shopping. Carrefour /Neto /Lidil to name but a few In Autorieve on a Friday morning there is the local Marche (Market) well worth a visit and.......you can pick up some wonderful vino. Fresh fruit/ olives/ spices. Clothing and handbags also. Site has a lovely pool maintained by Damian. Do visit and experience this wonderful site
