We made a reservation for one night well in advance through Booking.com, all confirmed and then had e-mail contact with owner, regarding the accommodation for my dogs. - so what could go wrong? EVERYTHING We arrived at the time we agreed, went to the door - locked. Rang the bell but no response. we walked around the premises and it was becoming clear that the place did not look open. we tried telephoning but no response, eventually waiting a full hour, just in case. In desperation we asked her neighbour if she knew where the owner may be and were told that the hotel was closed and something about a holiday. We speak some Spanish but not sufficient to hold a big conversation under these circumstances. It appeared that our problem was quite normal! Our only option was to find somewhere else, which we did at 9 at night, at much greater expense and my dogs had to sleep in the car. When we passed the Posada the next morning there were lights on, we stopped and went over and the cleaner let us in, got the owner, who was there, dressing herself as she approached us and with wet hair. she said she had forgotten we had a reservation!! It was all there in black and white on the desk but it would probably take some finding. As it happened we had a lucky escape, the place was a shambles, the first stair from the front door had a broken stair rod and you could have easily have fallen. Everywhere we could looked dirty and unkempt, not our type of place at all. From the road it looks lovely - how deceptive things can be. The awards on the door are all seriously out of date, some were over 20 years ago! Is this place just crawling along on past reputation?

Really nice friendly hotel with great views, The rooms are nice and the food can be really good and excellent value. It is a family hotel and I return here every year with friends before heading for the ferry. The hotel has become a favourite night of the trip.
