I was only here for 2 weeks doing some independent research but for those two weeks, I felt so loved and welcomed. The staff are always there if you need them and it's a great hostel to make friends at if you're traveling alone. They can also arrange tours if you're interested like the Cape Peninsula Tour, Table Mountain, shark... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here over new year. The atmosphere was very open and very friendly. It was my girlfriend's first time in Africa and she felt very comfortable. Props to the great resident barmen too! Complimentary tequila at midnight for our international crowd ruined us! Great bars and restaurants just down the street too. Was hitting 38 degrees... More

The staff are friendly and helpful. There is free wifi. But I wouldn't recommend this backpackers for older travellers. It is close to Groote Schuur hospital if you are looking for accommodation close to this hospital. There is a coin-slot washing machine and tumble dryer to make laundry a little easier. I didn't feel 100% safe in this area to... More

It was actually so brilliant, that we came back twice during our SA trip. Why? Because it simply felt like a second home! Super friendly, fun and caring staff; wonderful vibe; clean rooms (we had the private ones); cool people to hang out with; a real community kitchen, a bar with lovely events, a washing machine, free wifi and a... From the moment I walked through the gate at Green Elephant I was welcomed with smiles and a friendly vibe. I stayed in one of the twin rooms which meant I was looked after by the marvelous Mavis who was just amazing at looking after the house and everyone in it. Once my friend left I stayed in a larger...
