Cockatoo Retreat proved to be a 10/10 visit in every regard. Beautiful accommodation in an outstanding location. We saw over 35 bird species in 3 days onsite. Even Australia's Threatened Species Commissioner Gregory Andrews was also staying there. Cassowaries are known to regularly meander through and we saw one down at the road. Listening to all the rainforest medley of... More

We stayed for just one night at Cockatoo and loved it. The room was beautiful and well designed - no insects at all made it inside! It's very secluded with the balconies screened off from the other cabins so good for a romantic evening. The views out over the rainforest to the sea are stunning. Carmen was lovely and spent... I first read about this wonderful place in the Daintree rainforest a few years ago, and resolved to stay there one day. Well, we have just come back to cold, wintry Melbourne from a fabulous stay in the Daintree, and yes, the highlight of our trip was definitely the 3 nights we spent at Cockatoo Hill Retreat. Carmen is the... More

What a treat staying above the rainforest canopy in your own romantic bungalow. As much as I loved our explorations and walks through the dense forest, it was wonderful to emerge from the trees and darkness to the open space & sunshine at Cockatoo Hill. The views from our private balcony looking over the treetops all the way to the... More

Stayed for our honeymoon. Absolutely faultless. Feels like you are a million miles away from it all. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel totally relaxed. Carmen looks after you with delicious breakfast, knowledge of beautiful local swimming holes, tips on great restaurants and attractions. There is a stunning outdoor water edge pool which is heaven. The Daintree ... A rainforest, a piece of history, a wilderness, back to nature, get away from it, rest and restore, romance, an amazing place - there are so many reasons to come to the Daintree, but why stay at Cockatoo Hill Retreat? Well... from the care and attention prior to arrival, to the beautiful Balinese themed bungalows (just 4... More

We stayed at Cockatoo for four nights with the aim of getting some much-needed R&R on our holiday. Cockatoo provided just that... and much more. The accommodation is set out over four detached, private lodges, best explained as understated eco-friendly luxury. The rooms were very comfortable and, while initially sceptical about the lack of curtains, the next morning we would... More

Staying at Cockatoo and getting to chat with Carmen made our trip to Daintree! The area is spectacular and the retreat is set in the most lush forest to enjoy the area. The rooms are bright and spotless with big balconies overlooking the rainforest. It was our anniversary and a bottle of sparkling wine was waiting in the fridge complete... More
