We had a wonderful stay. This is an exceptional B&B with delicious food, a very caring attention to detail, a very warm welcome from Chris, Janine and Hamish, walks on the doorstep including along the river, two pubs in the village, and plenty more to explore locally. We came for a wedding nearby, and made St Anne’s House and the pretty village of Sutton Bonnington our base for a short holiday. We had the most enjoyable and relaxing time, Hamish is a lovely friendly dog and made friends with our dog Barney. We have returned home feeling as if we had been away for longer. We do hope to return for more of the home from home feeling and more to explore. Thank you and see you again soon.
This is a wonderful B&B with the most generous hosts. Janine and Chris take pains to make you feel at home in their beautiful cosy home. Their attention to detail is meticulous. Their home made bread and granola, along with their delicious cooked breakfast and award winning marmalade (a taste sensation) makes for a great start to the day. All the extra touches in the bedrooms, robes, comfy bed and pillows, toiletries, port, water in recyclable bottles, ground coffee, Yorkshire tea, Cadbury’s hot chocolate, cookies etc etc meant that our stay had all we needed. It was such a comfortable & friendly welcome whenever we came through the door. The orangery and a cosy snug with a fire were extra gorgeous spaces to relax in. Marvellous.
We were so grateful that Chris and Janine could accommodate us after an abortive trip to Madeira, thanks to EasyJet, we found ourselves on our way to the Lake District, extremely tired and having lost our holiday. The welcome we received and care that was taken of us during our overnight stay was heart warming. The house was spotless, our room was extremely comfortable and we were still not hungry by the evening after the delicious and bountiful breakfast. We will definitely hope to stay at St Anne’s again when we next venture North. Chris and Janine are the best possible hosts you could expect to find and you are certainly in for a treat if you stay there.
We've stayed in some great B and Bs in our time, but St Anne's House is exceptional. We were especially impressed by the warm welcome from Chris and Janine, by the bright and welcoming orangery, by the comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom, and by all the little touches which made the stay special. Examples? Banana cake for tea; a decanter of sherry in the bedroom; award-winning home-made marmalade; gluten free sausages for breakfast, along with Chris' special cheese and mushroom omelettes; and easy, genial chat. In warmer weather, we would have made better use of the large garden. Really very highly recommended.
This was our second stay at St.Anne's House where Janine and Chris offer a very warm welcome The accommodation is modern and comfortable with luxurious bedrooms and the use of a visitors "snug" during our stay Breakfast is exceptional with every opportunity taken to showcase local produce, prepared to order, and served in a beautiful atrium with views of the gardens. What makes this BnB special is the care and attention paid to guests by the owners. From a high standard of cleanliness , freshness of the food ,real milk with the complimentary in room beverages etc helpful low key advice and some special suprises
