Came here with two other families and 6 kids total ( ages 6-10). Most of the children's first time camping as well as a couple of the adults. Our spots were great and right on the Big Sur River. The bathrooms were very clean with odorless. I can also appreciate the bar/restaurant and market right at the entrance for some...

A visit to Fernwood can vary greatly depending on your expectations. In February, 95% of Big Sur (trails, parks, etc...) were closed due to flooding, mud slides and 2016 wild fires. The bridge just south of Fernwood on Hwy 1 was closed as well, so coming from the South is problematic (must take 101 up which isn't as scenic). Specifically...

This was the perfect room to stay in while visiting Big Sur! We got the room with the fireplace, on a very chilly winter weekend, and oh my goodness, it stayed so cozy! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was a bit small but had everything you needed, the water got hot quickly. There was a little table to set...

The lady and I booked an 'adventure tent', which is like a hotel room except built from a wood frame with a heavy canvas. It had flooring, a bed, heating, and electricity. Outside was a campfire pit and chairs. The toilets were close by, private, and very clean. Check in is easy. There is a shop and restaurant at check...

Had a great stay at one of their tent cabins on the river. They have a cool bar, a restaurant and a general store, so it was easy to get everything we needed to enjoy our stay in Big Sur! Nice trails in the close proximity to the cabins, had a nice hike.

We stayed in an Adventure Tent, which, if you don't have camping supplies with you, this is the way to go. There are cabins, if you have more than two people but this was just my husband and I so we went with the heated and fully outfitted tent. It came with a VERY cozy Queen bed, heater, toiletries and...

The food was so- so. Nachos were strange and I would not do that again. Drinks were pretty good. Fun, rustic, casual atmosphere with character. Go for drinks and don't expect much else. Typical Big Sur.

We hadn't reserved, but were lucky enough to get a pitch, due to recent forest fires they'd had lots of cancellations. The staff at the lodge were friendly and helpful and said we could choose our own site. We had a hook up site backing right onto the Big Sur river, which was both beautiful and peaceful. At $75 for...

Room was great size, and very clean. They don't look impressive from the outside, but it is a well maintained property. Check-in was a breeze, very friendly women working in the store. Spending time in the restaurant, made me curious...perhaps they aren't intending to provide full-service? Food was, meh. But you are in the woods so...

We didn't spend a lot of time here is was just a place to eat & rest for the night on our road trip down the coast. We hadn't booked ahead & were lucky to get the last room for the night. The staff were very friendly & helpful. Room was good size & reasonably priced. The wifi didn't work...
