We had a wonderful stay in Kilcoran Lodge, a magnificent Edwardian historic building, oozing character and olde-world charm.
We were greeted by Trish who was hospitality personified – a lovely lady who made us very welcome. Indeed all the staff were exceptionally friendly and hospitable.
Our room was delightful, spacious with lovely views across the Knockmealdown mountains. Antique period furniture, deep-pile carpet, original double-bay windows draped in thick lined curtains – Edwardian luxury. The bathroom was delightful with shower and separate bath.
Next morning breakfast was delicious, full Irish breakfast at its best with local produce, freshly prepared and scrumptious.
We can absolutely recommend staying at Kilcoran Lodge, Irish hospitality at its best in the grandeur of an Edwardian building, replete with original features and mementos of past glories.

As always, my stay in this hotel was just wonderful. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Dinner was delicious and we also had a light snack in the evening before bed which was scrumptious. Our room was spotless, light and airy and the bed was comfy and clean. I will be back here again and again. It is a gem of a spot in a beautiful location with stunning views of the sunrise over the mountains. Breakfast was tasty and the breakfast room is so welcoming and tastefully decorated. Loved every moment. Will be back again very soon! Thank you so much :-)

Stayed here with friends and were very pleased with our room, the staff and the grounds. We had a large spotless newly refurbished triple room with a view of the Knockmealdown mountains. It was ideal.
The bar offered a good selection of main courses and desserts, all reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast is excellent. Continental buffet available with freshly cooked hot options (generous portions) .
The leisure centre offers a small pool, a sauna and a small gym. While it is a bit dated nevertheless it is great to have.
All great value. We hope to visit again very soon.

Brilliant place for Sunday lunch. Travelled here with my partner today. We were met by a lovely lady who told us the television options were limited and sat us in a much more appropriate location within the dining room. The food was pure smashing and the service we received was some of the best I have seen. Will be back next Sunday for food again.

We had an absolutely fantastic meal at Kilcorn Lodge this evening. The crispy chicken and french salad was divine and there wasn’t a crumb left on my plate. The bar was so warm and cosy, not too busy and with very attentive and efficient staff. Will definitely be back again!

This hotel is situated in beautiful south Tipperary with a hillside location and gorgeous view of the mountains. It's an old hunting lodge that was converted to a hotel many years back and still holds plenty of that charm today. The hotel itself is quaint, a little old fashioned, as expected but perfectly comfortable with everything you would need. A car is needed to get around though as outside country walks, every other activity is a car drive away. What makes this hotel and the comfort of your stay however is the welcoming friendliness of all the staff. Every single one of them enhance your experience in staying there. John and Annekas warm welcome on reception, Trish and Cathal in the bar are so kind. Trish is an absolute lady and a wonderful personality bringing her unique charm, and Liam overseeing it all making sure each guest is taken care of. I had a few requests due to elderly parents coming for lunch and worried about dining with lots of folks around, and with attention and care, we were taken care of. Overall a wonderful stay and can't wait to go back to the cosiness of warm winter fires, and Irish coffees. See you soon.

Staff at reception were very dismissive and not a bit welcoming. We booked three rooms and on arrival my daughter's room was situated at the extreme opposite end of hotel to the rest of our group. She was moved to a room on our floor but her room was very small and bathroom was unclean she didn't use the shower as a result. We had a lovely room but I discovered two used hotel shower bottles were left on the floor of our shower and the bathroom floor was dirty. The bathroom was not properly cleaned. The glasses in the room were not covered in plastic as in standard in other hotels.

Dear Helpad, I have to say we find your review both misleading and very far from the truth of the events during your stay. Firstly, you comment on our reception staff being dismissive, your reason for calling them dismissive is they would not check you in at 12.30 when you arrived at the hotel . our check in time 15.00, this was advised to you when you made your booking and again when you arrived, however you still decided to come back again at 14.00, one hour before check in time at 15.00 and try yet again to check in . you fail to mention this in your unfair review. oh, and we did actullay manage to check you in at 14.00 as we rushed our accommodation staff to facilitate you, how dismissive of us. You also fail to mention that you "forgot" to ask for the rooms of your and your adult children to be next door to one another. You did however mention that you forgot when you asked for your adult daughter to be moved. You were advised very clearly that the move would involve your adult daughter moving from a Garden/Mountain facing , newly renovated , large double room to a much smaller back facing room, in fact we went as far as to issue you with the key for you to go and check the room before your daughter made the move, we also moved other guests to facilitate your request , did you forget this also during your unfair review? We are very disappointed with ourselves that we let you down by moving rooms for you, after you inspected the said room, and that not allowing you check in at check out time caused you distress but we did allow you to check in at 14.00. We really do try to go the extra mile to help our guests and sometimes try to do the impossible , the fact that we did so much to help you and it didnt makes it seem we failed to do the impossible for you and our efforts did not make your stay a pleasurable one. We do hope that the next hotel you choose will be more to your liking

I have had a horrific experience with the general manager Liam, he was extremely rude over the phone, he was snappy and dismissive In regards to my booking. I was attempting to tell him I was disappointed in the customer service to which he cut me off and told me he was disappointed in me which I found extremely dismissive. I paid for half of my booking which when I originally booked I was informed I only had to pay deposit

Responded 10 Dec 2022
Dear Brenda, Thank you for posting your review in relation to your cancellation of your booking with us. Your review is both inaccurate and untrue. Let me address your feedback so other people are aware of the actual events of your calls to our hotel. Firstly, I do not tolerate people shouting at or disrespecting the hardworking staff here at the hotel. Our staff are treated with respect and courtesy by us as an employer and value them as people. We are service staff , but we deserve to be treated with both respect and manners, something which was lacking in your communication with my staff. Secondly , we have in place a policy relating to our bookings for the event you booked for. When my staff member very politely informed you of same you refused to adhere to the terms of booking. On a second call from another member of our staff you shouted at her, told her that you would pay under your terms not the terms of booking. as per my first point I will not tolerate anyone making a member of my staff upset when she is simply doing her job. You tried the same shouting tactic with me when i took your call today , again, I did not nor will not tolerate disrespect of me or my staff. I am sorry we could not amend the terms of conditions of booking, which 340 other people have no issue with, to suit you. If you could also correct your review to reflect the fact that you requested a refund of a non refundable deposit which I obliged you with. I would urge you to consider when dealing with service staff that you remember we are mere human beings and only doing our jobs and perhaps that shouting will not always get the result you want. Mise le Meas, Liam Barrett General Manager

A charming little Irish lodge with fantastic food. This is a great romantic spot on the way to the west of Ireland.

The rooms are modest size, no AC but the cool country air can be let in through the windows.

The curry at the bar is wonderful, the staff is sweet and plenty of parking.

First impressions very positive. Panoramic view of the Knockmealdown Mountains from the front and from our room. The public rooms, restaurant and bar are tastefully furnished in a country house style. The bedroom was a little on the narrow side but understand there is a choice of larger rooms, so probably wise to ask before hand if this is a concern. As a previous reviewer pointed out some of the paintwork on the windows and grouting in the bathroom is tired but overall a quiet and comfortable nights sleep. Sadly the Leisure Centre needs a complete revamp. The pool and gym equipment are fine but the changing rooms and decor are worn and tired. I booked a swimming session but was made to feel unwelcome by a lady giving swimming lessons. There was room for both. We had a very enjoyable meal in the bar with friends, lovely tasty food and a pleasant ambiance. Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent. Wifi worked well and there is plenty of on site parking. The staff without exception were friendly and helpful. A great location to explore all the local sites. Would definitely stay again in a larger room, the small issues described can probably be addressed once the trauma of Covid has passed and the financial future of the Lodge is assured .
