We spent one night in Livernano and I wish we had booked to stay longer. The location is beautiful, a piece of heaven. The staff are friendly and so helpful. The rooms are perfect and the bed was very comfortable. The food was excellent as was the wine. We will be back, it was a real find.

Beautiful view. U need a car to get there, there is a 15 mins drive in a dirt road, but it's worth it. The breakfast is not very rich. The dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good, and not expensive. Very friendly staff.

I really enjoyed our stay in Livernano for many reasons. it was really like 'back to nature'. The place is very peaceful and quiet, with the amazing views all around. Daniela and all the staff were absolutely great, very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The rooms are big, decorated with many beautiful old pieces of furniture...

We ate lunch at the restaurant following our tour of the winery at Casalvento. Very secluded and private. A great, personalized experience. The staff were very kind and accommodating. It's a bit tricky to locate and you will lose GPS along the way.

This piece of Chianti perfection is a delight from the time the gates swing open until the last day of your stay. The history is amazing, the buildings carefully restructured, the rooms large, airy and beautifully furnished. The staff was attentive, helpful, cheerful and kind. The food delicious, the service and attention to detail was a delight.

An amazing location in the hills of Tuscany worth a visit for everyone who likes peace and quiet and a glass of wine in a nice atmosphere. The staff are very friendly, the private pool is very nice. The rooms are well-equipped, very clean, the (big!) beds very comfortable. We will definitely go back.

We had the most wonderful stay at Livernano with family and friends. The place is simply beautiful and the scenery is breathtaking. The rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated. The staff, especially hotel manager Daniela made us feel welcome and at home. We hope to return to Livernano one day!

We absolutely loved our stay at Livernano. First, Daniela was great about arranging for our guestroom accommodations via email. Her follow up was very good. Finding Livernano was a huge feat as there are pretty much no signs (and each time we left Livernano even after our arrival, was still a challenge to get back, especially late at night). I...

A long overdue review to tell everyone how much my family enjoyed our stay at Livernano in June 2014. This was our second stop on a 10-day trip through Italy, the first being Positano and the last being Rome. Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with our adult daughters, we were all blown away by the beauty of the place, the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Livernano is a truly ancient place. It was first inhabited by Etruscans, whose culture reached its high-point in Tuscany over 2500 years ago, around 500BC. The hamlet was later occupied by the Romans, who gave it its name. Long after the cessation of Roman rule, Livernano served as a fortified border post during the interminable wars of the two great mediaeval city states in Tuscany, Siena and Florence. Our small, beautifully preserved Romanesque church dates back to the 11th century. In the 17th century, when the territorial wars between Siena and Florence had finally come to an end, Livernano turned into a quiet farming village. At the end of WWII, when the ancient system of share-cropping (mezzadria) was abandoned, Tuscany suffered grinding poverty. The beautiful countryside, tended by humans for millennia, became almost entirely depopulated. The last farmers left Livernano in 1953. The hamlet regained new life in 1990, when the complete restoration of the entire estate was begun. Today, Livernano is once again a working farm, producing fine wines, excellent olive oil and honey, vegetables and fruits. On 38 acres new vineyards were planted with 9 different grape varieties. In the ancient olive groves, new trees were planted and we now tend close to 1000 trees, all of native Italian varieties. The remaining 420 acres consist of beautiful mature woodland that surrounds the hamlet on all sides. Three houses have been completely redesigned and furnished with local antiques to accommodate guests. Although situated in splendid isolation amidst forests, vines and olive groves, Livernano is close to many local towns, historic sites, fine restaurants, and famous wineries. The shopping and cultural centres of Florence and Siena are only a short drive away. ... more   less
