Cozy spot in the alley approaching the center of Modra, 20 min. from Bratislava. Very nice, interesting and clean interior. The great kitchen at great prices. Very good prices for accommodation Location in the wine region of the Little Carpathians. Good base for hiking trips to the surroundings.
Modra is in the heart of the Slovak wine country - no, I didn't know Slovakia made wine either. The Hotel Sebastian is a charming place to stay, with en suite rooms at 56 euros a night from Monday to Thursday. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They let us use their computer to print our boarding passes and they rearranged the furniture in the lobby so we could watch England's abject surrender to Iceland in the Euro 16 tournament. With hindsight I wish they'd been uncooperative! The rooms are on the small side but well thought out. They are impeccably clean. The furniture was classy and the entrance is down a delightful glass ceilinged passage. Parking is in the courtyard.
Wedding service, set up, food perfect. Breakfast very basic. Good value for money. Great efficient AC in the room. Parking is very bad - the entrance very narrow with high jump so you can damage the car. Only beer and coke in the minibar. Nice bathroom.
Clean hotel - small rooms limited by ceiling height. Only one chair in room for two occupants. No safe in room. A little above the standard Slovak hotel. Restaurant in hotel accommodates large groups and sacrifices services to other guests. Limits access to public spaces for guests allowing only the large group to use. Cater to large groups at the expense of other hotel guests. On third morning (Monday) did not have breakfast except for cereal and limited fruit. Did serve eggs when requested - no meat and cheese as usual breakfast fare. Served a first class family dinner the day before; service very uneven.
When you decide, where to eat in Modra, it can get rather difficult, if you don't want anything plain, but also not too special (and expensive :D ). This place has yet never failed us. We come for lunch with my family and there is always a nice offer of the lunch menu, including a meaty meal, a vegetarian meal and also some stable offers, if you dislike the first two. Plus, we really enjoy the nice, clean, well-furnished interieur. A lot of locals stop by, the staff already knows a lot of them, and is very friendly. Almost no waiting time. The only problem is the lack of parking spaces.
The hotel does not have parking space, if there aremore guests at once for example coming for wedding or conference they need to park like crazy in the nearby street, wher it is hard to park in and out without getting your car damaged.
We spent there 2 days on a company meeting - all together some 30 people. Hotel is nicely situated in a great landscape, however lacks parking places. My colleagues had to park their cars in nearby streets, sometimes quite far away. Hotel is nice and clean, however you can feel a lack of a good taste - some decorations, lamps and furniture pieces just do fit there. Food was good, however staff was terrible - taking only one order at the time and bringing drinks also only one at time. Soup was completely cold and at the end we got a food ordered by another congress groups, which had a lunch at the same time. Waiters were wearing white gloves and they used them also when emptying ashtrays and than serving the food again...At the end the lunch took 2,5 hours instead of 1 hour (everything was ordered in adavnce, including same menu for everybody. Meeting facilities were quite OK, room was small, but nice and clean. Hotel was organizing also some external things for us and screwed it completely. I would never ever go there again for a company meeting.…
I paid EUR 45.- for one night including breakfast The hotel is very clean, the room I was in was fairly small and bathroom had a shower, no bath and not many ammenities. I did not need it but there was aircon in my room, which was a happy surprise for that category of hotel and may be most welcome on some hot days, particularly if you are under the roof as was my room. Staff is friendly. The hotel has been developped in a traditional house and they covered the yard with a veranda so the shared space is pretty large. Location is great, at the back of the church, two minutes away from the main street. If you plan to stay for a few days, you may wish to ask for a spacious room but I do not know if there are any.
The hotel il located in the centre of Modra nearby Regio (regional Red Buses) Bus Stop. Rooms and bathrooms are excellent ! The staff speak English. The breakfast is good (even if as Italian tourists we used to have small one, we did not taste the typical Slovak Breakfast)
We stayed here in June and July. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean. The restaurant food was good. It is close to the main street and conveniently located close to other attractions in Modra. We will be happy to return.
