We spent awesome 4 days here in the lap of nature! This place is technically in Ankola and 30 minutes from Gokarna. We were looking for a place without a lot of crowds and this was a perfect match. Honey Beach is semi-private for this property and there was no one else on the beach during most of the time! We loved the food and service as well. Highly recommended! N:B: There is a detailed review of Honey Beach and this Resort on Youtube on "The Urban Nomad" channel and we found it very useful.
Breath taking view of the beach. Located right beside the honey beach, you can walk under the stars with beach view in this resort. Very courteous staff and even in the face of pandemic and the challenges that it brings the place is very well managed. Excellent food! It's like a competition between the view and the food. Highly recommend place to stay!
We drove all the way from Mumbai to experience Red Earth Gokarna. It has one of the best location in terms of being perched on a cliff running down to a rocky as well as sand beach.Red Earth was such a disappointment - no maintenance with windows that don't open, no net to stop the mosquitoes and insects from swarming in; broken cupboards; air-conditioners that make terrible noise; fans right on your nose; stray dogs which chases children and eats away shoes; lights not working; bathroom with broken tiles; dirty bed linen; no one to clean the room even when you request; to name a few. Then of course, the food quality is terrible with limited choice and delayed service. Even when we ordered food at 7pm, they forgot half and the rest they served after 1.5 hours. It was because of Mr. Sanjay that we stayed on since he tried his best to make it comfortable while the rest of them (including the tall man who does nothing and is extremely rude to every guest and sits in the reception office all day) are no good. We had to cut short our stay because we couldn't live in such squalid condition after having paid through the nose. So you pay for 7 star and get worst than a budget hotel service. Of course they didn't offer to refund or apologies. So think before you book Red Earth!…
What an incredible stay for nature-lovers and those who love solitude and quiet! We stayed here in the beginning of November 2020, and had a wonderful stay. One of the best parts of the stay was Chidda, the Yoga instructor, who also took us on hikes around the beautiful countryside AND showed us a once in a LIFETIME sight- that of Bioluminescent phytoplankton on Honey beach (a very rare occurrence). The resort is on a cliff beside Honey beach, a beach situated around 1 hr to the north of Gokarna, approachable from the village of Ankola. The approach road winds its way through marvellous countryside, but is quite narrow and undulating at times. However, there is no other traffic except cows so that's not a problem. The entrance is steep and the cars stop at a carpark at the edge of the cliff overlooking the sea. The entire resort is perched on the edge with lovely sea views from the reception, restaurant and rooms 1 and 2. There is a spa and Yoga centre. The food is simple and prepared as per request. Order your meals early so as to have it ready in time. Even breakfast (which comes with the package) can be requested the night before for smooth sailing. The beach is approached by small steps leading from the reception down. It is an ISOLATED private beach the colour of honey and is one of the most picturesque beaches in India (coming from someone who has seen most of them). It is not very safe to swim though, and only venture out if you are an experienced swimmer, as the waves are rough in the cove, and the water is deep. There are several walks and hikes to be had in the vicinity to lovely viewpoints. The surrounds are untouched forest and field. There is also fishing and several sports and board games available at the reception. Lovely collection of books as well. Definitely would suggest the morning Yoga session too. The rooms are a little small and not very well equipped- could do with a few more hooks and an electric kettle and safe. Not very younger-child friendly though. The property is a full hour away from all the activity of Gokarna and Om beach and around 2 hrs away from Yana caves and Vibhooti falls. For those who want to go to Gokarna for a quiet, reflective, beautiful, peaceful holiday and enjoy privacy, this is the place!!…
If you, like me, want to be soothed by the sound of the sea, if you love spending your day lounging around under trees and your evenings under the stars, if you never tire of gorgeous sunsets and strolls on a near private beach, then Red Earth Gokarna, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, your place. The staff, led by the always smiling Sanath, are friendly and eager to please; the food, if you know what to order, is very good and even though mobile network is absent, the WiFi is good enough to see you through. I was working on the road, and I have never had a more stunning workplace. But don’t come looking for traditional luxuries. The rooms are basic, the bathrooms could do with an upgrade, and the housekeeping is not to the standards you might expect in fancier resorts. But the really luxury is the location. I hope to return. Soon. …
