An interesting looking building and inside does no disappoint. An enthusiastic welcome including carrying luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Check rooms on website prior to booking. Tom Heights had super views, reasonable size but bed was a little too firm for me. Shower darkish as wash hand basin light not working. Evening meal fabulous flavours and again staff friendly....

This is the cosiest little Inn and really welcomes the weary traveller. If you can get a seat in front of the central fire you'll be there for days! The tea/coffee and cakes are lovely but I have also enjoyed a very nice bowl of chips here. They do more food however we have only visited for tea/beer or a...

A lovely relaxing weekend was had at the Eltermere. Small hotel with a bar, and informal restaurant, serving lovely food. Bed very comfortable, views stunning. Improvements that could be made - despite it being a family run business, we had no sight of any family. 3 of the 4 staff we did meet were fairly perfunctory, no real chat...on checking...

We stayed between Christmas and New Year, 3 nights, and ate in for 2 nights, going to the local 'spa hotel' for the other. A stunning location for a winter's morning, great walks easy and gnarly on the doorstep. The interiors are well balanced between elegant 'manse' style and cosy pub with log fire. The food was very good modern...

There were 19 of us for lunch & we ordered right across the menu & the kitchen really delivered... Highly recommend (& MUCH better than the nearby Langdale Hotel) It's very close to a lovely walk along the river, friendly staff & reasonably priced..

It is about 24 years since our previous visit to this hotel situated in a lovely part of the lakes with easy access to the Langdale Valley and Ambleside. It was in need of drastic changes to update it's tired decor and fittings. Well it happened! The period features have been retained and it is now a beautifully fitted and...

We stayed for a long weekend to celebrate my 50th birthday and would thoroughly recommend this hotel. The hotel itself is a lovely old building with furnishings and decor of a high standard. Our room had a wonderful view. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was superb.

We visited recently and stayed two nights in total. We also had extra guests to come for dinner with us on the first night to celebrate my Grans 90th. The staff were very accommodating and helped with organising the cake decorations etc. The food was excellent and the drinks a flowing. They have some fantastic real ales on offer and...

We fell upon this place after a long walk in the fell above Elterwater. We had lunch there on a Sunday. They were able to accommodate us in a very welcoming way. Try the Club Sandwiches, there were to die for.

We returned to The Eltermere Inn after a few years away and found it to be just as good as we remembered. The setting is wonderful with rooms on the front enjoying the best of the views over the lake and the river. The welcome is warm, the atmosphere friendly but not obtrusive and the food is quite simply excellent....
