I stayed here while I was doing the Cumbrian Way. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. It is in a good location in a pretty village. It's just two minutes from the pub. I had an evening meal and breakfast here. They were both very good.

Elterwater is a lovely little village in the Langdale valley, surrounded by beautiful Lake District scenery and excellent walks. The hostel is really well kept, spotless and obviously cared for by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The facilities are really good and the rooms, although small, are very comfortable. We would love to stay there again some time.

I love it here. The staff, the location, the pub down the road. Always reliably good. Improved facilities keep making it better and better without any loss of nostalgia. You do a brilliant job and I will continue to come and enjoy my favourite part of the Lakes. Thank you

I visited with a group of friends to go mountain biking and I was delighted. The village is idyllic I with spectacular surrounding countryside - I highly recommend a visit to the nearby caves. There's lots of cycling, mtbing and walking on your doorstep. The hostel was warm, secure (especially for bikes) and homely - really great kitchen facilities, even...

Returning to Elterwater several times and always had cracking time. Very friendly and helpful staff, good rooms, generous self catering, nice meals if you feeling lazy and that feeling that you are in best possible place for great outdoor trip. Good drying room, lockable bike shed, plenty of showers after long day in the saddle. Wholeheartedly recommend!!!

I have not stayed in a hostel for 20 plus years so was a little wary of what I would find.Elterwater Hostel is fantastic! It is probably the cleanest and most well kept accommodation I have ever stayed in and that includes 5 star hotels. The staff are friendly polite and the food that is very good. Excellent location for exploring by bike or on foot. Well maintained with really helpful staff and good quality facilities. We opted for the breakfast and this was first class. Only downsides are: Having to us the NT car park, which is just 150m away. Cost is £6.50 per day. The room was very adequate for a short stay, although the...

My first time visiting the Lakes with a big group of friends and I couldn't have wished for anything more. Located in a cute little village you can walk straight out into the beautiful countryside - I highly recommend a visit to the nearby caves. The lake district benefits from a number of good hostels and this one is at the top of the pile for me. We stayed there as a group of 12 friends and had a great time. We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. The rooms are spacious and not cramped. The beds although small are very comfortable....

The first thing to note is that this is a hostel, not a hotel - so don’t expect all the bells and whistles you might get in a hotel (marks have been given by comparison to other hostels). Do expect a very friendly welcome, comfortable bunk rooms, impeccably clean bathrooms with good showers, hearty food just right after a hard...
