I came here with my friend for a long weekend. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment which was really lovely. Spacious, clean, good facilities…. But terrible air con. It randomly switched off (in addition to going off every time we opened the balcony door) so we never managed to get the room cold. Also no coffee machine (not even the filter kind) which I would have hoped for in a 4* but that’s a minor point. The main downside here was the food offer. On night 1 we arrived late but were ready for dinner at 9 and the restaurant didn’t shut until 10 but the receptionist told us the queue might be too long so we shouldn’t go as if we didn’t get to the front of the queue in time then we wouldn’t be served and they wouldn’t refund us!! We opted for the cafe by the infinity pool instead which was ok but the calamari was straight out of a cheap freezer bag not what I expected given our proximity to the sea. It was however the breakfast which was a real disappointment. Absolutely disgusting hygiene with over 50 flies on the bowl of melon alone and more on the other fruit and cheese. They had no toast - apparently had run out of bread, no croissants or pastries and the bread rolls were completely stale. The cooked options weren’t too bad though and at least had covers on so not so many flies. Worse still was the male member of staff who dealt with us. When we walked in he didn’t welcome us just said ‘go there’ and pointed to the entrance to the buffet area. We started to look at the food and then he told us off as apparently we were supposed to wait for someone to serve us but he’d never mentioned that. The same man was rude to me again when I went in hunt of coffee, shoving two mugs into my hands while he held onto the handles which nearly made me drop them as they were so hot. We complained to the hotel about our experience and they dealt with it beautifully. The Manager was sympathetic and apologetic and arranged for us to have a different breakfast option at the bar next to the infinity pool,as well as crediting our room with the first breakfast - she tried really hard to improve the situation which we were thankful for as this break meant a lot to us - it was for a special birthday and also the first chance in years to relax without our children. The girls at the cove bar (next to the infinity pool) were so lovely, always had a smile, remembered our order and were very helpful. The layout of the hotel was really confusing with multiple lifts that don’t go to all floors and stairs in different places and we found it really hard to work out how to get where we wanted without getting stuck. The spa and gym were shut which was only advised after we had booked and paid which was not great. We were told we could use the spa at a hotel 10 mins away which was fine but I’m glad I didn’t bring my gym kit as that would have really annoyed me. The location is fine if you want a quiet break and there’s really easy and frequent buses to go a little further. Plenty of restaurants, most with similar menus and pretty busy so reservations are recommended particularly if you want to eat 8pm or later. Nice bonus to find a Starbucks at the bottom of the hill. In summary I would possibly come back for a cheap break but probably not eat here again - and I would check before booking if their gym and spa were open.…
This hotel lets itself down in many ways it should not call itself spa hotel as it has no spa ! The gym you can use in the Solana is very poor with broken equipment The buffet is disappointing for both breakfast and dinner no gluten free or dairy free options there is not enough staff and very poor service The room walls are thin you can hear the TV on in the next room and furniture being moved and from the upstairs room There are insects in the room and my room was not even cleaned today plus towels are poor quality totally let down they need took at reviews and improve a lot
Stayed here for few days bed and breakfast. Hotel is ok for money couldn't always get use of pools as very busy and people secure sunbeds in early hours, couldn't use bar as too busy. Gym under renovation. Free safe and air cooler which was good but no proper air con. Breakfast is served up for you due to covid but staff are quite unwelcoming and you literally get a sparrows portion, so we just stopped having it. Location terrible very run down and poor, very dirty. Only a handful of restaurants really and most days you could not get a table , very few shops which close quite early. This location is described as a holiday resort but I wouldn't agree there is not much there. The locals are not very welcoming or hospitable but that I could deal with. Weather lovely in September , I would recommend a different part of Malta maybe Valletta or Gozo which are lovely.…
A lovely hotel in a great location. The pools are lovely, the room was spacious and very clean. The staff were very helpful whenever we had queries and it was very relaxing. Food in Da Cicio was lovely and the hotel is only a 20 minute walk to the beach. Would definitely come again. Shame spa was under repairs but wasn't needed anyway
We have visited this hotel a number of times, but our stay a few days ago was definitely the best........ the only negative aspect was that it was a short stay! The welcome at Reception was a pleasant one. The room was a seaview one and had a picturesque view of the iconic Mellieha Church, Mellieha Bay and even the islands of Comino and Gozo.......... what more can you ask for? The hotel was very clean and our housekeeper, Srebrica, made sure that our room was spotless during our stay. The restaurant staff are most friendly (Doreen and Martina) shine above the rest. There was a good selection insofar as food is concerned. In conclusion we must mention the attention and support given by Mr. Pierre Agius, Rooms Division Manager. He leaves no stone unturned to ensure that guests are given the best service. Mr Agius is without doubt a great asset not only to the hotel but also to the hospitality industry in Malta. Very well done Pergola Hotel..... we hope to be back soon!…
