Decent stay in a great part of Mellieha, with lots of restaurants and shops, as well as historic cathedral, nearby. Lots of bus stops around. The rooms however are a bit dated and small. We had issues with soundproofing as we could hear our neighbours late into the night as if they were talking to us in our room. We were also missing a hair drier. Quality of towels is very low, but bedding is good. Our bed was very big and comfortable. Get a room with a balcony to enjoy the ambience and have a space for morning coffee. We didn’t have breakfast included, so went to Debbie’s Cafe nearby, which served amazing and affordable breakfast. Check it out! (A 2-minute walk up the hill!) Staff are generally friendly but gave us a few misinformed tips on getting places. Did not get to use any pools, as it’s not our thing, so went to nearby beaches instead. The easiest beach to reach from the hotel is Ghadira Bay down below (8-minute bus), but beware it’s quite busy and next to a busy motorway, so hard to relax there. Suggest you go to Paradise Bay or Golden Bay (20-minute bus away)!

On arrival to the hotel we went to the front desk to check in to be told that we are checking in tomorrow (11th September) to which I said this was not correct. I showed my booking reference which clearly showed we had booked from Friday 10th September. The lady on reception was extremely rude and offered no help atall, saying that the agent had phoned to say we would be checking in tomorrow. She then proceeded to tell us they don’t have a room for us because they were expecting us the next day which is not correct. We were then told there is nothing they could do and to try the hotel up the road, they said they had an email from Jet2 saying that that date had changed, however when asking to see this “email” they could not show us as they were not the reservations department. It was absolutely appalling customer service, there was no manager to speak to and the other receptionist proceeded to overspeak and reiterated “we have no rooms we are fully booked” but our room should have been ready for us when we arrived, no matter what the time. We had no apology for the inconvenience or any sympathy for their mistake. It was obvious they had overbooked the hotel and sold our room. We then had to go to the hotel up the road for one night whilst Jet2 sorted things with the hotel. Not all but most of the reception staff need some serious training on customer service skills. Really disappointing as the hotel itself is in a great location with lovely views and nice rooms (although they could do with some tlc)

Me and my husband arrived 9th September check in quick, when we got to our room found it a bit basic. When you stood in the bath to have a shower you have to nearly stand on the plug hole to get the shower to reach you but always hot water, the bath towels were more like hand towels. Cleaning a bit hit and miss. There are 3 lifts but only 1 person allowed in unless you are together so can take a long time getting a lift. Roof top pool nice but you have to get up early to put towel on sunbed or you won't get one. Found hotel staff helpful. The Thai Restaurant by roof top pool was lovely and also the pizzeria restaurant, you have to book a table at all restaurants to make sure you can eat, too much pasta and pizza and repetitive at all restaurants for me. The cocktail bar at hotel was never open, but no reason for it, the bar across the road belongs to hotel so we went there for a drink (not many bars) but sometimes getting a drink took a long time if busy and people watching football! Found service in nearly all the restaurants not very good they don't seem to know what they are doing or get it wrong. Breakfast at hotel is served to you, cooked food mostly cold, omelettes good, toast hardly toasted, fruit is tinned but fresh water melon, always found something but very poor. Found it very hilly with lots of steps which is fine for me but not much to do, would not visit this part again.

Spent a weekend at Maritim between 17th and 19th September 2021. + Food and drinks at breakfast were delicious + Pools very nice + Staff very polite - Croissants during breakfast on Saturday at around 9.45am were finished (breakfast served till 10.30am) - My sister's room on the 8th floor had a foul smell when AC was switched on - Again, in my sister's room, the hairdryer wasn't working - In our and my parents' rooms (4th, 6th floor) the flushing cover kept coming off whenever the flushing was used - Children are not permitted in rooftop pool (don't know why) but when we went to take a look, we saw children running near the rooftop pool (no security) - On Saturday at some point only 2 lifts out of 3 were working and we literally spent 10 minutes waiting to use a lift - Again on Saturday at around 11am, near the ground floor pool there were no available sunbeds - Bathroom door in our room (4th floor) wasn't lockable - In our room there were very few sockets - Had an unpleasant experience at Al Ponte Pizzeria (one of the hotel's restaurants) on Saturday evening; when messaged them to book for dinner I was told I couldn't book since tables were assigned on a first-come-first-served basis, and when we went to the restaurant we were told we should have booked! Had to go elsewhere to enjoy dinner.

Have just returned from a week’s stay. Great hotel with excellent facilities. Very clean with good COVID restrictions in place. Had a lovely room on 8th floor with a big balcony and great views. Only used the roof top pool and no problems with sun beds. Staff at the bar were extremely helpful and polite. Both restaurants served exceptional food. Well worth a visit. Again staff at restaurants were helpful and polite. Overall a great hotel and I would definitely return. However, the reception staff were rude, very unhelpful and not very knowledgeable. On check in, we had the misfortune to be dealt with by Vladen. A very stressful experience. I did think on check in that I had made a mistake in choosing this hotel and contemplating staying elsewhere. I had cause to speak to reception on four occasions and each time they were unhelpful or didn’t answer my enquiry. I did speak to Libby in guest relations regarding this. Another disappointment of the hotel was the quality of the breakfast. I appreciate that due to covid, everything was served but the quality and selection of food was very disappointing. Portion sizes were too much or not enough. One day, I requested toast and was handed a piece of bread that obviously hadn’t been toasted and when I refused it as it had t been toasted and not on a plate the guy looked at me blankly. Inexperienced staff with a language barrier. The hotel does need to address the issue of the reception staff and also the breakfast. Very disappointed in both these aspects.
