Came back from an 11 night stay at the Riu Gran Canaria which is our third visit and still just as nice as the first time 7 years ago, I must express how safe we felt there as when we out of the hotel grounds you temperature was taken on your return and it was also taken when you entered the restaurant wit a squirt of hand gel. On entering the hotel room you could smell the sanitizer, you felt safer there then if you said in the uk. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful would highly recommend

After a long period of Covid misery, we pushed the boat out with a swim up room at this well located big hotel. On arrival, it was striking how busy the place was. I don't know what the occupancy rates were, but there was a queue at the popular Purple bar for seats. The main restaurant seemed pretty busy too, the Las Dunas and El Patio felt a little rushed with a strict last entry time. The Asian and Atlantico were much more relaxed. The room / suite felt really special and the luxury of the swim up and topped up personal bar were the finishing touches. The location is wonderful with almost everything a short stroll away. The range and quality of drinks available were noteworthy. The staff were ALL super friendly and highly efficient. Hygiene was given a high priority in my opinion. Staff wore masks and sprayed chairs and tables. Some guests were less compliant with mask wearing and staff looked under-supported by supervisors as they tried to enforce the rules. If you're a highly strung insomniac, you'll be able to score an adult pool sunbed; if not you won't.

I am home a week from the Riu Gran Canaria and I still cannot settle. I never enjoyed a hotel so much. I have a background in travel so I have stayed in some lovely hotels but this one really made an impression. The location is spectacular it is right on the front shore facing the sea. A short walk less than 5 mins takes you into Melonares so you have a great quality resort on your doorstep. The grounds of the hotel are amazing. They are so decorative and well kept, really beautiful to walk around. I cannot say enough about the people working in the hotel across every section. They work so hard and they are so friendly. Every single person we passed always said hello and nothing was too much bother. The hotel is spotless inside and out. The rooms were fresh and clean everyday. The restaurants were clean and tables were cleared immediately. The food at the hotel was great there was so much choice, it would be impossible for anyone not to find something they liked. Loads of entertainment and classes going on around the hotel for all ages. The night time entertainment was fab also with again different options dotted around the complex. There are a number of pools kiddies / everyone/ adults only infinity pool and a quiet pool. Loads of sun beds and towels available at the pool area. We stayed in room 3117 was blown away by the view. We had a garden and sea view was gorgeous. If I had to give a negative point unfortunately it would be the wine on the all inclusive package. I couldn’t drink any of them the white, rose or red none of them were nice in my opinion which was a pity. I would have liked to have the option to buy a better wine at the hotel. Apart from that I couldn’t fault it and I would definitely go back again. Was my first holiday since the start of Covid. I felt very safe at the hotel with the measures they had in place. Well done Riu Gran Canaria 👏👏

Stayed for 2 weeks on our honeymoon, hotel and facilities are good and well cleaned. Staff were lovely and rui entertainment team really make an effort with their guest. Day time entertainment is great always something to do. Evening entertainment was very samey live music every night, however the bingo and kahoot in the theatre were good. Food was of a good quality and the Asian resturant food is great. Drinks were pretty varied however could do with a second choice for a lager. Would definitely recommend to anyone

All good and a nice sea view room.Food gets a bit same on a 14 night stay. The speciality restaurantts are the same as the main so a bit disappointed.Need to up the menu.As to the sun bed cleaning due to COVID,some did it well while others didn’t.This needs to be sorted by management as it wasn’t done at all well by others.
