Detailed Reviews
Just returned from a 5-night stay here celebrating a milestone birthday. As always, the transfer from the airport to the hotel is a bit nerve-jangling, wondering whether all the photographs and reviews are accurate but, in this case there turned out to be nothing to worry about. The grounds are immaculately maintained, the accommodation is roomy and spotlessly clean and the food is to a high standard. The only possible downside for some travellers could be the hotel location. It is some way out of town but is surrounded by golf courses, tennis centre and sporting facilities. It is a brisk 40-minute walk to the beach, although the hotel runs regular courtesy buses to both Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles and taxis from the nearest large resorts back to the hotel are only 4/5 euros. So you take your choice. You either want to be amongst the seething masses downtown or in a quieter location with the choice of more action when you want it. Personally, I prefer the latter.
Well done to all the staff in making this a lovely short break.

Chalet-style suites with comfortable beds, a spacious lounge area and a bathroom with walk-in shower. TV on clever hinged holder so you could watch from the sofa or the bed. Lots of channels but mostly in Spanish or German (channels for France 24 in French and English). The suites each have a useful private walled drying area (where you could even top up your suntan on a windy day) at the back and a small open patio area at the front. Everything kept spotlessly clean. All staff very friendly (apart from one waiter at first, but even he thawed out after a couple of days).
The location is somewhat isolated. It's a great place for relaxing away from it all. You wouldn't come here for nightlife or shopping (although there is a free shuttle bus to Playa del Ingles, as well as one to Maspalomas beach and promenade). The walk to the little botanic garden and the bus stops for other parts of the island is 15 minutes' walk away. There are always plenty of sunbeds around the large but unheated pool (there are also two very small heated pools, one for kids).
Although the breakfast and dinner buffets had plenty of choice, many of the hot options looked a bit unappetising. I was always able to find something I liked but it did seem to me that vegetarians (and vegans even more so) would struggle to do so.
I had a really relaxing time and would consider staying at the Jardin Dorado again.

Hotel is in well kept grounds. Rooms are in individual bungalows which allow for a certain amount of privacy and quiet, however the exteriors are looking a little weary. The bathroom has clearly been updated. TV was rather disappointing, given the only channels in English were news channels and not British news channels at that.
Given that the resort is isolated, so little to do in evening the opportunity to watch English language films would have been welcome. The staff were very nice and helpful.
The hotel provides a shuttle bus service to the two main resorts of Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas otherwise a long walk or cross rough ground to a road to catch service bus.

Absolutely fantastic resort!!!
All the staff are friendly and approachable, particularly Judith at the bar and restaurant!
Also the two ladies in reception were very helpful and had a great sense of humour.
Our cleaner was fantastic ( don’t know her name🙁) but she look after room 102 during 3rd -10th September.
The food was excellent and plentiful. The chef’s kept refreshing the dish and nothing was to much trouble.
Breakfast in particular was great!!!
The pool and the surrounding area was great plenty of sun beds and the area was always spotless clean.
It’s in a great location for Maspalomas and the Yumbo Centre with a free bus and a taxi back is less than €5.
The rooms are well kept and a fairly decent size and as I said before always kept spotlessly clean by the staff, I fact the whole resort was kept in immaculate condition and praise should go to the whole team there.
If there is down point there isn’t a great deal to do in the evenings with limited entertainment, but what was on was very good!
Over all I would highly recommend booking the resort!

My partner and I were little disappointed from day one. We came here for his 30th birthday; I can say upon arrival we wanted to stay somewhere else. It’s a sweet place but the photos are very misleading. I was really surprised reading the reviews online, they all seemed so good and the pictures looked great but now that we’re here i can say it’s not the same. I wouldn’t say this is 4* place to stay.
The restaurant is really small, there was 9 choices of hot food, 4 of them were all vegetables and there’s a small area for salad but that’s about it. The food is nice but there’s so little choice.
The room could do with some care, including walls, when we arrived they were painting the room that looked like to cover mould from all the bubbles underneath, the wallpaper was peeling off etc. Usually in a hotel you’d see a kettle with coffee/tea but there’s no kettle. There was quite few hairs everywhere, on the floor, in the bathroom & sinks etc.
We asked for an iron, the cleaner said she would bring it in 15 minutes but it took over an hour and we wanted to go out to eat, it had split wires inside that can be so dangerous, some of it was tapped up and it didn’t work very well you could touch the iron.
The lifeguards need to figure out one rule, a younger one was nice which he had on our first few days but then an older gentlemen who was not so nice was going around telling everyone off. There’s no sign stating we can’t use an inflatable in the water, like we did the first few days and on his shift we got told off.
There’s been quite a few bad reviews about the lifeguard, people pay and want to enjoy a relaxing holiday not be told off by made up rules.
If you have kids this isn’t really the place to bring them, there’s not much for them to do.
This place id recommend for those who are happy with not doing much, and are happy with the basic.

Couple aged 30 something.
We booked a cheap, last minute bed & breakfast get away for some winter sun..
The bungalow was spotlessly clean & cleaned every day (bed was made & new towels were provided each day), the staff were polite and helpful. Lots of people have complained due to 'no kettle in the room', but if you ask Reception, they will provide you with one! There is a shop across the road for any tea/coffee purchases. The room is equipped with a mini fridge, TV and hair dryer. You have to pay deposits for beach towels and to use the safe. You also have your own garden area and patio set to enjoy the evening sun.
The pool area was clean & beautiful (with trees & plants which attracted lots of beautiful butterflies) with a relaxed quiet vibe. The main pool was a bit on the chilly side but the smaller pools were warmer. The public toilets were immaculately clean!
We opted for the breakfast only option because we like to explore & eat out. There was lots of choice for brekky from fresh fruit, pastries, hot fried food to cerials and cold meats/cheese, but the food was mostly lukewarm (I didn't really mind though) as they will also cook fried eggs, pancakes or omelette fresh for you.. There didn't seem to be many staff around in the morning, so sometimes there was a queue for a clean glass or plate, but that may be because we visited out of season.
One evening we paid €15 each for the buffet food option, there was lots of choice but I'm glad we did not opt for the all inclusive option as the food was lukewarm again.
If you like the peace and quite this is for you. There is no entertainment in the evenings so you may be bored after day two (as we were). Though, it was only €6 for a taxi to the main beach or town (with a long strip of bars & restaurants). If you ask, Reception will kindly order a taxi for you. There is also a free bus shuttle during the day to Maspalomas beach and to Playa de Ingles (I believe this arrives hourly).
I would definitely book this hotel again. I really enjoyed my stay here, though the lack of entertainment/music was a bit disappointing.
We will be back sometime in the future - thank you!

Got back from here this week and I want to be really kind because my wife and I love the place so much.
The resort is clearly still recovering from covid. The staff that were on duty were all kind, helpful, polite and happy, they couldn't have done more for us. But, because there are not as many on duty as there would normally be there times when there was no one at the bar to serve drinks.
There were also not as many guests as normal and as such the buffet wasn't as varied as on our previous visit. But there was no dip in quality and everything available was tasty and filling.
We had a few issues with our apartment. There aren't enough sockets installed. We requested a kettle and ironing board but the only available socket was behind the large sofa/pullout bed.
There was even a socket to plug in the table lamp!
An extension lead, with about six sockets on it, was brought to our apartment after I visited reception.
The TV only had 4 English speaking channels (no BBC or Sky news or movie channels), but the signal was very poor and used to go off on those channels at about 6pm every night. Now I know we don't go on holiday to constantly watch TV but its nice to catch up with the news now and again or watch a movie if the weather changes and you can't sit around the pool.
The door lock was badly fitted and there was a piece sticking out that was razor sharp. We only noticed this when my wife ripped her pool dress on it one morning.
I went to reception to report it and shown the man there a picture of the torn dress. He told me that he would inform management but we got no response.
One of the repair team came to repair the door, but could only patch it up with a piece of rubber to limit the chance of further damage. The door locks have been very badly fitted.
I tried to phone reception, about one of our issues, from the phone in our apartment but could not get a dialing tone. When I questioned this at reception I was told that the phones don't work!
Again, because of staff shortages, there was very rarely anyone available in reception after 6pm, so if you needed a taxi to Playa las Ingles or Maspalomas you had to phone for one yourself.
There is also no free shuttle bus into the resorts during the day at the moment.
As I said at the beginning of this review I wanted to be kind because the hotel is still very clean and welcoming. There is a new sitting/relaxing area on the roof of the restaurant. The toilets adjacent to the restaurant have been updated and modernised.
Again, repeating myself, the bar/restaurant staff are wonderful. Friendly, helpful and very hard working. Because our pick up for the return to the airport was 08:35 we were allowed into the restaurant 15 minutes early, at 07:45, to get some breakfast before leaving.
I would still highly recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants a nice relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby resorts and would like to think we may return when life is back to a more acceptable form of normality!

What a great place to stay our suite was 60 feet away from the pool. We had clean sheets and towels every day we also had free air-con which was essential as it was very hot when we visited. We booked to have bed and breakfast and it didn’t disappoint, evening dinner was €15 each which was very good value for what you could have.Drinks were very reasonable a large beer and wine €5.80.staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool was a great size with a full time lifeguard, also had plenty of sun beds, the whole complex was very clean. The only issue was a lack of evening entertainment but you could get a taxi to the local town for a few Euros.

Pros
Lovely setting. Clean rooms, clean pool and plenty of sun beds.
35 minute flat walk to the beach. The free hotel bus to the beach has been cancelled due to Covid but you can call a taxi from reception.
We arrived late evening and they had saved food for us which was very kind.
Standard (if a little small) all inclusive food selection - 1 restaurant only but varying options each night. Always a salad bar.
Big bottles of water available at the bar if you are all inclusive which is fab.
Coffee machine available all day serving coffee, tea, hot chocolate.
Fairly covid safe. Masks to be worn when at the bar and in the restaurant when getting food. However, due to staff shortages (see below) covid safety wasn’t always maintained.
Cons
Extremely short staffed. At times the staff seemed annoyed with having to serve you especially if like us you have a large family and you ask for 5 drinks.
Only 1 bar attendant so expect to queue at times and on occasions it’s not even staffed so expect to stand and wait.
Slow to clear tables and bring drinks with your meal.
Room wasn’t cleaned on occasions.
Have to clear your own tables on occasions to be able to sit down - not very covid secure.
Plastic straws!! Plastic cups!!! Not good.
We had two rooms. 1 with a key code lock and 1 with a key as the key code lock wasn’t working.
The key code lock for the room is very temperamental- you can easily lock yourself out and then have to wait 5 minutes for it to reset.
***Arrived back to the room one day to find a key left in our door. Seems that housekeeping had left it in the door after fixing the shower gel holder. Extremely careless. Anyone could have let themselves in and taken our belongings and cash, passports etc.***
Nothing available in minibar in rooms.

Stayed here last week to escape the British climate and capture some winter sun .
The lady on reception (Moana) was very pleasant and helpful.
Resort is remote and there is no entertainment - (40 mins walk to Playa Del Ingles and over an hour to walk to Maspalomas Beach) There is a shuttle bus service with limited departure and return times and taxis are cheap.
The location is quiet and very peaceful and the pool has an attractive setting with a roof top bar for hotter weather.
Accommodation was clean (serviced daily)and the bed extremely comfortable.
There is an excellent Italian restaurant within a 15 minute walk. Also tried the Chinese nearby and that was good.
I had to pay for the use of the safe which seemed mean.
I had opted for bed and breakfast. The cooked food looked ghastly; bacon was a mass of grease and gristle, and Oliver Twist would not have asked for more of the porridge! I did see a few guests queuing for freshly cooked omelettes and fried eggs. The continental options were good with a selection of cereals, yoghurts,
fruit, breads, cheeses, pastries, salami, meats and lovely fresh orange juice, tea and coffee.
The main unheated pool was of an excellent size and there were plenty of sun loungers available.
The bar staff were friendly and the public areas (including toilets )were clean.
Overall I would say this is a lovely, relaxed resort and ideal if you seek peace and quiet aware from the main tourist areas of Mapalomas.
