About 80% of the guests in the hotel are French. Everything going on in the hotel is geared towards the French. Some of the bungalows have not yet been refurbished and the first one we were in had a strong damp smell. Cristina in guest relations was excellent. She took note of our concerns including non compliance of some French guests refusal to maintain a reasonable social distance. Cristina moved us to a lovely refurbished bungalow which made our stay much better. The food was better than average including the snack bar. The entertainment was dire, all in French and very amateur.

Location & resort The bungalows are clean but dated. Could do with some paint but overall, happy with this as you don't spend much time indoors. The resort is nice and well maintained. A bit far from the sea (20-25 min walk to the beach) as well as most of restaurants and nightlife. There are 2 pools, lots of deckchairs, pool bar serving drinks and food most of the day. One onsite shop, rather pricey (€17 for a small bottle of sunbathing cream). There's also another shop with a good selection just outside. All-inclusive Good and varied. Not Michelin star restaurant but decent food with lots of choice. Also plus for an indoor grill and a chef grilling omlets/fish/steaks on your eyes to your liking. Staff friendly and accomodating. The busiest dinner times after 8.30 pm. But whilst you may need to wait for a table, the food was restocked promptly and there were no queues to the bufet. A fair selection of alcohol included in the all inclusive package. Entertainment Whilst I did not attend any of the evening performances (8.45 disco for kids, 9.15 entertainment for adults), it seemed good and other guests were happy. Day activities for adults and kids between 10am and 5pm. Evening 8.45-10ish pm. However, I enjoyed AquaGym and AquaZumba as well as Bingo (won a bottle of champagne!). Kudos to Gabriel who was always friendly, engaged and funny. Covid-19 safety measures (as of September '21) The staff wears masks all the time. Guests are required to wear them indoors as well and everyone complied. Lots of hand sanitisers, all tables, etc sanitised after each guest. Requirement of a vaccination passport or negative test on arrival. There is also an option to do a paid pre-departure covid test onsite. Overall Good and friendly. Rather for families than young couples, unless you don't mind crying and splashing pool water children.

Stayed in one of their single bedroom bungalows with two single beds and a pull out bed in the living room if you had a 3rd person staying. Checked in during the evening. Wasn't given much information about the resort, just a badly photo copied map. No information in the bungalow either. Eventually found out there was a website you could go to, which I didn't find easily to use. Took a couple of days to find you could switch the language to English. Opening times on the app for the restruant were not correct. Had to wear a wrist band which we did not like. Food - on the whole it was good for what it was. Drinks - choice of one type beer and one type of wine. Staff - very helpful and friendly. Bungalow- generally OK - appears it used to have an outdoor shower at one point which has been disconnected. Shower in bathtub but no taps or plug to have a bath. Beds were OK. Air-conditioning was just about OK. Don't expect a lay in with loud music being played at the pool to wake you up mid morning. One day they turned the cold water off but didn't tell anyone so started to have a shower to find it was far to hot to finish. No one told us about pool towls and how to get them or the shuttle bus to the beach. Beach is about a 30 min walk away, but taxi are cheap and always going past. You can use the pools in the site next door, but they have locked all but the furthest away gate. There is a small shop right next to the resport to buy various essentials. Public areas kept very clean and tidy as you would expect. Overall good place to go. Would have benefited from a bit more information when we arrived. Would I go there again. Maybe.

We stayed at Dunas for a week in August, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We had 2 bungalows - they were very clean, great size for 2 people, a big bedroom with good storage and a safe (14E for the week). There’s a TV, sofa, microwave and fridge, space at the back to dry towels etc. At the front of the bungalow is a nice patio area with seating. The grounds have lovely tropical plants and trees and feels private, everywhere is spotless. Our rooms were by the quieter pool and pool bar area - the main pool was a bit too loud for us but plenty of younger families were enjoying it. You can’t leave your towels and go off, they will be removed by staff with a polite note. You can hire hotel towels - 40E deposit then a euro each time you change them. We also kept our room on for a later flight on the last day - 30E. The food was pleasant and adequate, something for all, the chef in the main restaurant at lunchtime worked particularly hard. Staff were generally friendly and efficient - Julio at reception was particularly helpful. Our cleaning lady also did a brilliant job - especially in the teenagers bungalow as you can imagine. We had a bbq one evening at the pool bar which was nice. The evening entertainment was a bit lacking for older kids and adults. Drinks were not bad and the wine was good. There is a lovely Lebanese restaurant at the end of the road, maspalmas beach is just over a mile away - not far but a hot walk, taxi is only 3euro. The only slight criticism is the roof terrace - we didn’t get it? There was a bar bit up there but it was closed so are you supposed to take drinks up from downstairs bar?? There were singers up there sometimes but didn’t see advertised so never know whether to go up or not. And then it shut early….just feel it was a great spot and would make a nice adult bar for the evening time. I absolutely loved Gran Canaria and found this hotel to be brilliant as a 3*.
