This is simply a great place! Enjoy the excellent food (try in particular the «planke» - an invention of the cook), try the endless x-country possibilities, enjoy the atmosphere, fresh air, great views. All for a very reasonable price.

Perfect cross country ski tracks are just outside the hotel area. There are numerous alternatives and easy terrain for all levels. The food is great. Gourmet food at top level. Good traditional breakfast buffet, an innovative lunch alternative ("planken") and excellent three course dinner - tasty, well presented and good value. The food was far beyond expectation. Brand new hosts offered great service with a smile. Highly motivated to perform personal service. However, there were a few start up challenges, as we were among the very first guests. The hotel itself had nice common rooms. The bedrooms were traditional and standard at this level. There were need for some upgrading, which has to be improved to give full score. We expect the new hosts to take care of these shortcomings shortly. However, we recommend to ask the hosts if everything is working, before booking.

I've done 3 visits to this hotel [and we plan a 4th], The rooms we found to be very nice nothing special, but good. We've had many meals in the restaurant and the foods been very nice. The staff [Danish and English speaking] are friendly and helpful, but for me most important is the skiing and I find that very good, we bring our own X-country skis, so I can;t say about the hire, but they seem to have enough there for use.

helpful staff. we hired cross country skis for a reasonable price; though used, they were good value, and no problem to exchange equipment when minor repairs were needed. We needed to choose & apply the correct wax ourselves (in other places skis were already prepared). (We did not stay or eat there, but friends who did a fortnight ago were very happy with their stay)

We have been here for 4 nights during August 2013. Hotel is very nice, but for tourists it may be a little tricky to find if one is coming from the vicinity of Rodberg. The winding road from Rodberg is closed this summer and my GPS found some difficulty in giving me an alternative route. You have to drive to these co ordinates 60.261915,8.992481 and go up the mountain following the sign of Eggedal. This ends up as a gravel road in the mountain, but eventually if you follow the signs of Eggedal will finally bring you on the road to Nesbyen. Dont worry if you get lost; every one is friendly and speaks English. This hotel is situated after half an hour drive up the mountain in Nesbyen. Wild nature can be seen while driving here. Hotel Lady at reception very busy, but very helpful and friendly. Don't expect any maid service here, but food and rooms are great. Drawbacks : Restaurant closes at 8:30 pm and breakfast is at 8:30am, but other wise location is splendid and nature can be experienced at its best from here.
