I didn't actually manage to stay here because I misjudged what 1.3 km by foot, on the mountain, in mid April, meant. Thankfully they warned me just in time, before I get off the train and find myself trying to carry my luggage in half a meter of snow, downhill! I cannot be more grateful to the hotel people who...

Just back from our third trip to Vatnahalsen. This is easily one of the best hotels we have experienced. Well led by Janet, friendly staff, great food with good awareness of allergies. A warm environment with wonderful waffles in the afternoon. I really find it hard to think of any fault to mention. Our room had plenty of space and...

Our time at the Vatnahalsen was truly one of the highlights of our trip throughout Scandinavia last summer. The mystique of only being able to access the hotel via train is cool enough in itself. The views from the porch and the friendliness of the staff made our experience even more magnificent. The food for dinner is served buffet style...

We stayed overnight, on our train journey from Bergen to Oslo. Our 10 year old daughter & 13 year old son absolutely loved the whole trip. We were a little bit concerned because the location was is remote and is only accessible by train. But the NSB trains are great and all ran to time. The hotel setting is beautiful,...

We were on the Norway in a Nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo and had a 2 hour wait for the train to Oslo that we initially though we'd have to spend in the deserted Myrdal train station. Thankfully the guy at the ticket office told us about this lovely hotel, one stop before Myrdal on the Flåm railway, where...

My girlfriend (now fiance) visited this amazing hotel on midsummer in June 2016. We were taking the Norway in a Nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo and spent one night here. We both have travelled extensively and agree that this was our favorite all time lodging experience! We arrived before check in, so the wonderful staff held our bags while...

It's mid November and we are taking the Flam Railway from Flam to Myrdal. It had been recommended to stop at Vatnahalsen for the 2 hours between trains rather than being stuck in Myrdal for that time waiting for our connection to Oslo. Well what a fantastic place, we arrived to 30cm of fresh powder, the trees were covered the...

We didn't really stay here but hanged out for a couple of hours in the sitting area. It was suggested that we hop off the railway station earlier as there isn't much to hang around for at Myrdal for. It was a brilliant suggestion! There's coffee, tea, cakes and muffins while we thaw ourselves out in the lovely atmosphere. Staffs...

This hotel is located in a breathtaking location. It takes around 30 seconds to walk from the station to the hotel. This hotel is located one train stop below Myrdal in a stunning location. The thing that strikes you the most is the silence (other than the occasional hiker/biker/train) and the muted roar of the waterfalls. It is very peaceful here! The illumination of the hills by either the sunlight or the moonlight was beautiful. The hotel was quaint with some...
