The hotel is supposed to be a 4 stars hotel, but it does not even meet 1/2 stars! The hotel does not show the stars outside, the lobby is outdated, with old and dirty armchairs! The room was shocking with cracked wall, dirty carpet, no air conditioning. We asked for a crib and it had yellow spots all around the barriers. We left the room immediately and still wanted to pay for it, but they say we could go without paying. Terrible!!!

This hotel is in a fabulous location but desperately needs some attention. Plus - bedding, bathroom and towels clean. Negatives - communal areas stairs hallways need cleaning , beds very uncomfortable and ancient / divan base ripped and badly stained, wallpaper peeling off the wall - all very off putting.

A nice little hotel tho somewhat dated. The entrance is lovely, classically Italian. As is the bar area and a fantastic terrace right on the side of Lake Maggiore where you can have breakfast a d dinner. The view is fantastic. The rooms however are dated, small and damp in places. The beds have seen better days and the pillows are like lumps of clay. There isn't a holder for the shower so you have to try and soap whilst holding the shower head. The cleaner constantly forgot to leave toilet rolls/shower gel etc. The staff in the main hardly bother to acknowledge you with one young barman practically ignoring us. The older barman however was very good. Very knowledgeable about wine and a good salesman! Breakfast was OK. Not a lot of other places to eat outside the hotel but only a short walk to the ferry stop and into Stresa. It was fine for what we needed and in an excellent location.

The food was excellent Luigi and his wife were fantastic hosts . Great views lovely spacious rooms, the bar is relaxing. Enjoyed sitting on the terrace for drinks. We have just had a week family break with my mother, father, husband and 9 year old daughter. The hotel is a beautiful building with genuine character and the staff we're really helpful getting my father around in his wheelchair. The waiter (Staphano) took hot chocolate up to his room every night and you could tell he truly cared about the guests. Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing holiday.
