We planned our trip to France since last year. Ten days in Paris and three days in Labastide-d’Armagnak to experience the taste and spirit of the real non-capital France. The reality has exceeded all of our expectations! Just yesterday we walked in Louvre familiarizing with mode of life of France of XVII century. And today we lived in the XVII...

I don't think much has changed inside the chateau for many years. As with the previous reviewer, we felt our welcome could have been warmer. With a few little touches things could have been much better. The chateau sits proudly on a substantial plot, expectations are therefore very high. Interiors are a little tired in places and on the day...

Yes, staying here was quite an experience, but I disagree on the friendliness of the hosts and the quality of the food. Upon arrival the owners never even introduced themselves and seemed rather standoffish. I had received an email confirming dinner, however the hosts did not seem to be aware of it. Main course was a rather bland duck leg....

Dear Sir, If i'm not mistaken, I was there when you were arriving. Indeed I told you to park your car in front of the castel and I'm the owner of the castel. I apologize for the lack of communication between my wife and I even if I saw your mail. About the main course, I'm a bit surprised because...

if you go to Labastide d'Armagnac you have to stay at Chateau du Prada. If you do not go to Labastide d'Armagnac, well just go to stay at Chateau du Prada. Great castle (small) type accomodation, fantastic hosts, the family will make you discover great local food (try the dinner at the Chateau) and of course their own Bas Armagnac....

One often visits a castle and wish they could spend the night there: well that's exactly what le chateau du Prada is about! It is not a boutique hotel in a castle but the real thing! (No ghost though!) Like previous reviewers, I'd definitely recommend the dinner: aperitif, 3 course meal + cheese and digestif in the castle's dining room...

I can only echo previous reviews: The château du Prada in Labastide d'Armagnac is a gem. Staying in a castle is always a nice experience, but here one is treated like a part of the family. The dinner (23 €) is an absolute must: Classic French cooking tradition in the best sense of the word. It always consists of a...

We stopped here for two nights on our honeymoon. This beautiful, old chateau felt like spending the night in a museum. The room was very affordable and the family that runs it were extremely kind and generous. Don't skip the dinner, it is better most other dinners we had that were three times the price.

We popped into this town without a reservation. It turned out to be a happy accident that we'll alwaus remember. This is a family home, still owned by the same family since it was built. The owner, Phillipe was extremely charming and invited us to a wine tasting held in one of the outhouses. The family own an armagnac vineyard....

Fantastic location in the heart of Bas Armagnac. First class treatment both for accomodation and food. Strongly recommended the in-house dinner, and, obviously, their own Bas Armagnac Millesimè production. Do not look for hotels in this area; no one could compare with this original Castle.
