ACCOMMODATION AT KILLEAVY CASTLE ESTATE Far away from the maddening crowds, our range of cosy, comfortable accommodation has something for everyone to enjoy. Hotel Where old meets new is probably the best way to describe the Hotel. Originally a Mill and Coach House, the building has been lovingly transformed into a family-owned hotel that’s full of charm and elegant comfort. Clean lines and a great use of space brings the outdoors inside. Designed to embrace the sweeping views of the Estate, each of the 45 guestrooms and lounges are sensitively decorated in a soothing contemporary style. Walls in soft greys, burnt oranges and sage greens, echo the seasonal colours of the surrounding landscape. Spacious rooms are all equipped with the latest technology and all suitable for double or twin occupancy with ample relaxation spaces, indoor and outdoor, for you to enjoy. Killeavy Castle For that ultra special family celebration, Killeavy Castle is available for exclusive hire. Inside the Grade A listed building, a full restoration programme has reformed the magnificent Castle back to its original glory. Enjoy the romance of its gothic glamour with impressive reception spaces, private dining room, original library and restored architectural features. Fully self-contained with four bedrooms, lounge space and extensive relaxation, each room emulates the original period style. With stone walls, hanging tapestries, rich fabrics and plush four-poster beds, every angle throws up new silhouettes and shapes. The Gatelodge For a more modern experience, the Gatelodge located at the entrance to the Estate offers secluded self-catering accommodation for up to six guests. The attractive holiday lodge has been built to a very high standard of comfort and is within easy walking distance of the Hotel, Castle and the hills beyond. Ideal for small groups, it is perfect for cycling, walking or activity holidays in Northern Ireland.

The hotel is very stylish & modern and the layout & backdrop is unique & quirky which we loved. We accidentally arrived via the spa entrance but once we had our temperature taken & were directed to reception the check-in experience was quick & easy. The room itself was great - spacious & had everything you'd expect. We were on the ground floor so had double doors outside. The bed was comfy & the toiletries were lovely. We immediately went to the spa & although we were aware that it was small we were still surprised at how small it actually was. With covid restrictions the number of guests using the spa was limited so it was just big enough to accommodate everyone however I don't think it would be enjoyable during busier/normal times or if guests didn't adhere to the 15 min per section guidelines. The facilities were good with sauna, heated chairs & outdoor hot tub. The hydro pool was great but the exercise pool would only allow for one person swimming at a time. Even without covid restrictions you would have to wait to use each facility which affects the relaxing spa vibe. We didn't fancy the 7 course tasting menu in the main restaurant so decided to eat in the bar. We were told the bar was first come first serve which is fine but we had to wait nearly 2 hours for a table when we went down. We were put in a 'waiting room' with a few couples already waiting & although it had a nice view of the lit-up castle we felt slightly forgotten about as the wait was so long - it would be better to allow hotel guests to book & if not warn them about the waiting time. We were only reading the menu at 8.45pm when they stop serving at 9pm so it felt a little rushed & ruined the evening a bit. Breakfast was also disappointing - we had a time-slot booked due to covid but still had to wait to be seated despite tables being free. We then had to ask to order tea/coffee and then remind the staff again when it didn't arrive. We were offered toast but this took ages to come as well. There is a made to order menu as well as the breakfast buffet but this wasn't well managed & again took its time to come & was all a bit disjointed compared to other hotels. Covid may have played a role in Killeavy not meeting our expectations but we just felt like we wasted a lot of time waiting about during our stay.

Everything was effortless from making the booking with Sarah to our warm welcome from Eugene , the lady who checked us in who I can’t remember her name and Micheal who was so attentive on reception. Everyone in the restaurant was so friendly and professional I didn’t get the names of all of the girls from Christmas Day but a especial thanks to Vanessa amd Shane , Aaron Quinn in the bar and the other bar staff and Jamie who took time out to show us around the stunning castle, and finally Michelle who done my facial and the lady on reception in the Spa. Hotel is in a stunning location right on my door step and the rooms are lovely.

At an hour outside of Belfast, Killeavy is a perfect getaway location. The hotel is beautiful with all the facilities you would expect. Staff are friendly and efficient. The grounds walks and drive around The Ring of Gullion are outstanding. A walk around the countryside followed by a massage and a few hours in the spa made for an idyllic break.

Visited midweek for two nights. Service from entering the hotel was exceptional, staff friendly and personable. Hotel was quite quiet as it was a week before christmas in addition to covid restrictions. Spa was a treat and food top class - particularly 7 course tasting menu. Beautiful hotel in picturesque surroundings. What an amazing venue.
