We stayed in one of the new annex rooms, recently fitted out in traditional 'alpine' style, lined with pine and with an ensuite bathroom, wood burner and balcony overlooking the mountain view. The restaurant serves excellent food - dinner consisted of four different starters, pasta, main dish and desert which even after 8 hours mountain walking was more than we...

We stayed for one night on a walking holiday, arriving in heavy rain. The room was fairly basic, but this was compensated for by the wonderful dinner in the restaurant. Course after course of beautifully presented local specialities kept arriving, until we could manage no more. The service was very friendly and the mountain views from the dinner table were...

We stayed here for one night as part of our On Foot walking/hiking holiday through Liguria. The day's walk was pretty tough and our muscles were screaming when we arrived at Capanne di Cosola. Paulo showed us to our very comfortable room and fired up the sauna and spa for us. We soaked in the spa for around an hour...

Delighted by this remote (at a mountain Coll) and comfortable hotel. The owner could not have been more hospitable - he fired up the sauna and hot tub for us (most welcome after our long walk to get there). Dinner keep on coming - lost count of the number of 'courses' but we were particularly impressed by his mother's nettle...

This mountain hotel offers a very welcome respite at the end of the day. Service is friendly and food very traditional, so get ready for that. The rooms are basic but functional which is what most people expect in such a location. So the food and service merit the stars, rather than quality of rooms

This hotel is at 1500m or so, higher than Ben Nevis, so it isn't surprising that the accommodation is quite basic and functional. We arrived very tired after a long walk. Although we'd booked the room, the heating wasn't on (it soon heated up) and the showers weren't incredibly hot so we were soon quite chilled. The bar areas were...

We stayed at this mountain lodge on 2 October 2014 as part of a planned 8 day hike from Voghera to Camogli. We arrived midst very busy renovations of the accommodation in preparation for the ski season. We appeared to be the only people staying. Builders were everywhere banging and hammering. That continued till after 9pm. So, this tells me...

We stayed one night here as part of a 8 day hike in the area. The rooms were simple, clean and ample for two. The food and service was something to behold. We were not expecting much, however were blown away with the generosity and friendliness that the hosts provided. The experience really jumped a level when a 10 course dinner...
