We stayed at Jan Tabak over the weekend for one night. The sole purpose for the visit was the overnight stay and breakfast the next morning. Rate was quite good, about 100.00 Euro incl brekky. Hotel is well known and centrally located - getting to the hotel carpark is awkward however. The hotel was very (corona) quiet. Check-in in my opinion was a little cheeky and overly familiar. On top of that the grooming of this young man left a lot to be desired. King room was nice and spacious - balcony and on the garden side of the hotel. But overall feel was quite spartan: only one pillow pp, no minibar, no coffee machine, no shower cap, no water, no ash tray on the balcony, no conditioner nor hand cream. By this stage, hotels should no longer have a bathtub one needs to climb into to have a shower. In my case, the shower head could not go up high enough because the hose was too short. Room was clean, bed nice and big and pillow was ok. Breakfast next morning was prompt and cheery. Cappuccino's were hot, orange juice fresh and selection of cheese and cold cuts fine. Only 1 portion of yoghurt and fruits for 2. As staying in a hotel during Covid 19 is such a bummer anyway, I felt that breakfast could have been a bit more fun and creative. Check-out was correct and cheerful again. Not a bad stay, but will I remember it in a year from now... probably not.

Booked Junior Suite. It really neets some attension. The room is old. At least 20 years old I think. Bathroom is small and old but our bed was fantastic Big and soft. Late check out. So..... fantastic night in an old room.

We stayed here years ago and things have slipped. The room had nice size but outdated. For instance, having a turning platter for a FATscreen TV tells it all. Parking source of irritation, all the good spots are reserved for their special guests, outdoors as well as in the parking garage, not great when it rains. In times of corona we are reminded to clean our hands, fine. Then an older gentleman enters the breakfast room: "I'm taking a quick sandwich!" I assume he is important, because nobody objected. He grabs some bread and also a slice cheese with his bare hands, OOPS one slice too many, so he trows it back. Sorry that is not okay.

Hard to beat for styling, friendliness and catering We stayed for 4 nights and used the hotel as a base for visiting family and friends. The only problem was using satellite navigation to drive to the hotel.

Dear Charles, Thank you very much for your great review! It is always nice to read the story of happy guest who frequently visit NH Jan Tabak. I am happy you are one of them with special praise for our staff. There are difficulties using a navigation system to the hotel since our location is on the border of Naarden and Bussum. Our actual adres is in Bussum but using a navigation system one must choose for our adres in Naarden. I have found out that if you use a navigation app like google maps or waze and look for "NH Jan Tabak" you are being directed to our parking lot in front of the hotel. Maybe that is useful information for your next visit. Kind regards Rick

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Jan Tabak, as a visitor to the Netherlands but also as a former resident of the town of Naarden and the neighborhood immediately behind the hotel. The stay was superb, good room, good staff, great breakfast, you name it, everything as you would expect from a good hotel. What I missed though was the old charme of the hotel. Jan Tabak is over 400 years old, and recent renovations and expansions have eliminated any trace of the old Jan Tabak. If the renovations had been made with a little more sensitivity to the history of the hotel, it would have been even better.

Dear Paul, Thank you for you great review! If there will be a next time for you to visit NH Jan Tabak, please try to see Erik Huijbregts. Erik is our assitant Food and Beverage Manager and also our Historian. He is full of stories of the old NH Jan Tabak which he can talk about for several nights during a glass of his favorite wine. Next to that he has created a small "Museum" in one of our boardrooms in which he has a small collection of old menu's, tableware and old pictures and magazines. We are part of a large hotel chain which may seem like we are loosing the history of Jan Tabak out of sight but we believe this history should be part of our future as well. In the Brasserie 4 old pictures show the evolution of Jan Tabak over the years going back 300 years in time. As you probably recon we are very interested in our history and also willing to absorb more stories of guests who share them with us so if you have stories please share them with us! Kind regards Rick
