I stayed there for a week and I consider that the stay was nice. I liked my bunk bed (spacious, good mattress and lining, a good bedside lamp), the locker was large, there was plenty of space in the hostel to relax after a day of intense wandering about, the shows that happened on Thursday and Friday were also very interesting. The checkin and checkout were easy.

There are only two downsides to the infrastructure (one is easily solvable, the other not much so I think), and one major point of consideration regarding the location.

Point of consideration:
Be aware that the Gentilly station is NOT within Paris City, but in its metropolitan area (by one block, actually). If you want to pay the minimum fare for public transport you have to walk like 5-10 min to the Cité Universitaire station nearby. It wasn't much of a hustle for me, and the difference in price is of 0.90€ I think, but beware.

Downsides:
The bedroom I stayed in had two showering rooms: one with no hangers (they were broken), but a good shower, and the other with proper hangers but barely any water coming out of the shower. This is the easily solvable part. The more permanent issue that I hated is the fact that the lights everywhere in the room would only function if you inserted your room card in a slot near the door. Sometimes someone had their card inserted and I couldn't pluck theirs and insert mine, but in the middle of a shower the lights went off because the said person removed their card. Extremely annoying. I also felt somewhat unsure whether to leave my card (as someone could take it by mistake).

Reasonably comfortable, good price for Paris. Booked a room with a terrace, which was huge. However, such a shame that here wasn't a single chair available to enjoy sitting outside. Avoid the rooms at the front with a view over the périphérique! The room is well insulated, however, so you don't hear the traffic noise when the windows are closed. Well situated next to the cité Universitaire internationale and its huge park. Also close to Montsouris and the butte aux cailles district. The room could do with a few more basic facilities such as a hairdryer or coat hangers. Breakfast very basic too. However, this is still a youth hostel, so you can't expect too much. Still a great deal for Paris though. Friendly and helpful staff, especially when I had a problem with the locking system and my room was instantly changed. I'll come back.

Staff was friendly, some struggled with English, which I should be able to speak French so I understand. Food was overpriced but good. Located no where near the city of Paris, very boring area. Definitely recommend staying somewhere closer. We got there before 3 so had to wait a few hours to check-in, didn’t mind. Enjoyed the patio area but then once 3:15 hit our room still wasn’t ready until after 4, but they were kind and moved us to the next available room.
Rooms were nice and the curtains on the bottom bunk were really nice for privacy while sleeping. Biggest issue that really upset us was they having a cosplay party, which was awesome! We enjoyed the vibes and people and were sitting outside enjoying the music reading our book in the beautiful weather, but we were kicked out of the patio. We didn’t have a wrist band and needed to pay to get one. I am paying a decent amount for this far out location compared to other key located hostels and I wasn’t able to relax in the patio we paid to stay here for. This was really frustrating as we were just about to get drink and had plans of staying the evening out side. I honestly would ask for a refund for this kind of thing, I paid specifically for the patio of this hostel and wasn’t able to sit outside. It wasn’t even a private party, just an event. Very frustrating and poorly run business

Hi! I stayed here in the beginning of February, I’ll say it’s a great location! About a 2-3 minute walk from the Gentilly train station (I recommend using the train to get around) this is probably the fastest & easiest way to get to the hotel.

Upon arrival (Saturday night) the lobby & adjoining bar / hangout /dance area was in full party mode lol they had great music going & had I not been so tired from travel I might have partook but I quickly checked in , front desk informed me of my room & floor & I headed straight to the elevator.

Didn’t quite know what to expect but I was impressed! I had booked a shared dorm but it had all the privacy I needed. Room has locker cabinets that allows you to store your bags ( bring your own lock). I especially enjoyed my bed , I had a bottom bed & appreciated not having to climb up.

Bed was AWESOME. Comfortable, soft , soft pillow, clean soft sheets , possibly the nicest hostel bed I’ve had to date. I loved that there was a usb plug in my bed cubicle , also personal lighting & the cutest little rollable shades on each side of the bed so I could roll them up or have them down for privacy.

Location was amazing! Literally a couple steps from the train station (once you learn it & how to use the train it’s perfect! ) there’s an amazing bakery on your walk to & from the hotel I recommend! Amazing pastries

Overall I give them a 10 , it was everything I needed and every second I wasn’t exploring the city I relaxed in the comfortable bed 😍

Thanks Jo&Joe

Overall: This is a hostel so expect a hostel. That means your room wont be cleaned, drinks are to be bought in the bar and there aren’t extras like bath mats. You’ll have to rent a towel if you don’t bring your own.

24/7 reception with super helpful staff. We loved them, they helped us find a room that suited my mum and I (mum is 70, I am 36). A special thanks to the man on reception who was from the Canaries (we didn’t get your name!) you were so wonderful, thank you!

The hostel has a great vibe. It is friendly, clean and felt very safe. Really nice mix of ages. Can’t say what it’s like to travel solo there or stay in the dorms.

The Gentilly area is quiet and residential but safe to walk around. The RER (metro) is literally down the road so this was never a problem.

Top tips:

One minute away from the metro (Gentilly line). Get off the train on the tunnel side, it’s closer to the hostel. It’s in zone 2 €7.50 a day will get you unlimited travel for bus, train, underground etc.

Rooms on the 7th floor very quiet, we didn’t hear a peep.

Take an extra loo roll, you’ll run out!

Buy water/whatever from the shop just by the Gentilly station, it’s a fraction of the price.

Food in the hostel is very nice. The sharing platter is delicious and good value.

The bathrooms on the third floor reeked of urine like dried in and not cleaned urine. After two days of being there I noticed they had not been cleaned once because the same trash and hair was on the floor and when I aired the front desk she said that it is not protocol to clean everyday. Even after that the bathrooms were never properly cleaned you could tell there was still dirt all in the corners and and on the walls maybe they took out the trash and sprayed it down but it was not scrubbed. The advertisement says kitchen worktop - I felt this implied a stovetop of some kind but it’s literally just a microwave ont the counter. Additionally there was never any soap in the kitchen (I was there for 6 days) and so Ann the dishes and utensils are just being rubbed down with a DIRTY SPONGE over and over. The listing also said laundry access so when I couldn’t find the laundry room I went to the front desk and she told me I have access to walk a kilometer or .7 miles to a laundromat. That’s almost funny. The beds are very hard but pretty much typical hostel stuff. I was lucky to have quiet roommates but in the private cabins you could hear EVERYTHING your cabin mates did. So if you’re a light sleeper do not recommend. When they do DJ sets you can hear it even on third floor and it goes until past 2am. The AC (I think it’s the AC) makes a sound like a milk frother every few minutes. Only positives are Design was kind of cool and modern aesthetically and some of the front desk workers were nice. Also it’s pretty close to RER B but it’s in zone two so if you’re buying tickets keep them n mind it’s an extra Euro every trip.

Rude staff and toilet water all over the second floor. If you do not want to eat breakfast in peace and have the front desk neglect to give you breakfast tickets, stay here. Ask for filtered water from the bar, they will tell you to drink from the bathroom faucet instead. If you want your birthday ruined, stay here. If you order from the restaurant, they reheat your meal in the microwave. If you want hot water, they will gaslight you into taking cold water. Other guests are loud and smoke too many cigarettes.

Booked a room for 2, when we got there they gaslit us and then made us pay an extra 50 dollars for what we thought was a private room for two. Turns out they gave us another pod. We didn’t use it. Calling it a private room is a stretch beyond all measure, it was a wooden slat with about 1-3 m2 max of space (enough for a backpack and not much else). The worst part is the bed was beyond big enough for two people and the only reason we chose the crap hole is because of the cheaper price. To add to that, there was loud party with the worst music until around 2:30 that seemed to keep getting louder. All of our roommates were in the room and pretty pissed. We asked the receptionists for a restaurant recommendation to which they laughingly respond to eat at their horrible restaurant, which had all of maybe 4 items including a burger for 15€ and other overpriced garbage. When I laughed at that and pushed for a real recommendation, they suggested two restaurants which were both at least 4 km away. Also, private room was a stretch because in order to have the tiny bunk “private room” be air conditioned at all, we had to leave the small window near our crotch area open the whole night. Otherwise it would be overwhelmingly hot, especially with the thick comforter they gave us. They neighborhood was not ideal for travelers and I think even Dwayne Johnson would be scared to go out past sunset at this place. Overall, it looks like a good deal but it’s a farce (spend the extra 20€ to actually be in Paris).

I like the room itself, spacy and doesn't smell like the usual hostel experience, good air conditioning and facilities, including the Locker.

I like downstairs area of course, quite fun and nice bar and breakfast.

I like the add-ons at the front-desk, but I believe a towel should included with the room and not for an extra amount.

The location was not amazing of course, it's one stop outside Zone 1, so you need an additional 3 Euros ticket just for one stop, then the usual fare for commuting to Paris zone 1. Walking from the hotel to that Zone 1 stop seems easy enough, but it takes 20-25 mins as you have to make a full circle to reach it.

Very nice hotel with kind and helpful staff, price wise really good as well, interesting rooms and quiet location. For families and people travelling alone, old and young, there's a nice atmosphere and great bar and kitchen where you can get good breakfast,
nice lunch and you can spend a lovely evening. Very pretty outside space/garden.
