Lovely family run hotel. Great location in old city walls. Beautiful relaxing garden. Rooms were very comfortable and staff helpful. Would spend longer next time. Best reached by car or taxi. Very steep entry into town if on foot.

The Hotel Monteriggioni is a beautiful, small hotel in the gorgeous, relatively undiscovered walled town of Monteriggioni. The hotel is beautifully decorated, clean, cozy, and a very peaceful place to stay. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and obviously take pride in their establishment. We stayed there for three days but I would have been happy to stay three...

This is a wonderful hotel in a tiny walled city. We loved, loved, loved it. It was recommended to us by locals -- it's a bit off the beaten track. We recommend that you have a rental car to get in and out -- there may also be a few buses midday. This is a fine location to see Sienna...

We stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights 7-9 October, it was amazing!! It's a family business and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice. Everything was great! I was celebrating my birthday there so my boyfriend arranged to make me a surprise as I get to the room after our visit in Tuscany and they...

We love this hotel! We never wanted to leave! First of all, this medieval town is so beautiful and peaceful and unique. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous. The Hotel Monteriggioni is a perfect, beautiful, and romantic place to stay. The decor is so tasteful and elegantly rustic…the perfect feeling for this setting. The rooms are cozy, spacious and lovely. The...

During a recent return visit to Florence by family, we wanted a quiet spot from which to help them explore a well- known but sometimes neglected corner of Tuscany and our choice fell on Monteriggioni, a tiny medieval citadel between Colle Val d'Elsa and Siena. As a jumping off spot for the region - from the Val' d'Orcia to the...

Really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It is a very special place, and I don't Think we could have chosen a better place for a birthday celebration. Lovely rooms, and very nice garden where we had breakfast every morning. Owners really nice and helpful, helped us arrange for a dinner in a nearby village in a Lovely restaurant. Monteriggioni...

The perfect place to stay in Tuscany, in a historical surrounding and special atmosphere. The interior, the room, the facilities all were perfect complementing with hospitality of the owner. To being part of the historical festival of Monteriggioni gave a special medieval feeling and an unforgettable experience. Thank you!

We were made very welcome here. Lovely hotel, lovley staff and a truly one-off location. Driving into such an ancient citadel is an odd experience. Breakfast on the terrace was a treat. Dining out in the village is not too expensive but the range is limited- as you would expect in such a small place. Well worth a visit.

This was a fabulous hotel and we enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms are nice and the owner and his family were extremely friendly and supportive. We will definitely recommend this niche hotel. A small pool in a nice garden is good for relaxing.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The building, which is in the heart of this charming medieval fortress, dates back to the 17th century and is now home to the superior 4 star Hotel Monteriggioni. The original architectural style has been preserved during the restoration, creating, together with the tasteful furnishings, a luxurious setting where guests can enjoy a private yet elegant atmosphere. Twelve luxury bedrooms – each with its own particular character – and “La Maison”, a most charming apartment, look out over the boundary walls made famous by Dante in his Divine Comedy. The centuries-old olive trees and the stone swimming pool in the garden offer our guests quiet areas for reading, enjoying a long breakfast or simply relaxing. The owners, Michela Gozzi and Luigi Cagnazzo, are always ready to answer any questions about the major Tuscan art cities and the ancient villages of the area. They can give useful advice about local events, city or airport transfers, guided tours and local excursions. ... more   less
