we visited this hotel in its last week of the season 2020, it was apparent from the offset that the staff do not want to cater for British guests, they were rude and unhelpful and even quite intimidating at times. We booked the superior room, which looked like it had just undergone a 60 minute makeover, furniture crudely painted, holes in the ceiling, rough plaster work etc. You get the picture, this is apparently the best room that they have, but not according to the lifeguard, who reassures me there is a deluxe room, which really is the holy grail, we did find out he was correct, but on pigeon italian conversation with the international reception staff, it came to light that the rooms are the same the deluxe room provides you with a white wristband instead of a silver one, so that the lifeguard can identify that you are able to sit on the 3 front rows of sunbeds on the beach! We enquired on a few occasions how much this privilege would cost, but after many promises from the reception team to find out, we never got to know. The restaurant is up many sets of steps with a convenient hand gel dispenser placed at the very top so that everyone behind you crashes into you should you apply any gel, the food in the restaurant left much to be desired there is a pasta station that is OK, but the main course offering was terrible, unidentifiable meats such as pig breast, no thank you! The staff are really nasty and avoided us, we spoke to other British people there who were having the same issues, we would just have piles of plates on our table from the different courses, and they were really patronising when we left shouting out thank you and laughing between themselves. We were full board and went to the snack bar on the beach for lunch in the end or got a pack lunch, which was basic but much better. There was a singer on most nights and they were usually quite good, the staff that worked at the main bar were very nice and much more professional. There isn't anywhere to walk to as an alternative in the evening but during the day the hotel beach bar and the beach bar next door are ok. The position of the hotel is beautiful though and the beach itself is so lovely and the sea so blue, its such a shame this hotel could really make an effort and build up its standards, look at staffing etc. we usually stay at the Hotel Dei Pini which is just beautiful and in a similar position out of town and on the beach near Alghero, Voi should get in touch and ask for a masterclass from them. In the end we had enough and left 2 days early, stayed in Olbia itself which had the usual wonderful Sardinia hospitality. VOI Colonna Beach you should be ashamed, you let your province down.

Possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Let’s start with the food. So I acknowledge they have changed the set up due to Covid however, this does not excuse the poor quality of the food. It was bland, usually cold and the selection was very limited. Reminded me of old school dinners. They had the most bizarre offering of meat I have ever seen. Pig breast to name one of them!! At breakfast the selection reduced daily. Now I know it was coming to the end of the season but as a paying guest I would expect the same choice if I had stayed at the start of the season. Now for the staff. Not welcoming, couldn’t really care less if the customer is satisfied and only understand basic English until you have a problem that is. Never once asked how our stay was, did not acknowledge you as you walked passed and the staff in the main restaurant were some of rudest hospitality staff I have ever seen. One night we sat with our plates on our table for over 30 minutes after we had finished. We ended up moving them onto an empty table behind us. It was very clear they were more interested in guests that could speak Italian and we really felt this. Didn’t even attempt to speak to us. The only member of staff that was pleasant was a young man called Fabio who worked in the main bar. He very welcoming and very friendly. The rooms were cleanish but had a poor finish, hot water was limited and a double room was two single beds pushed together. It was a huge complex and all the facilities were spread out. They had golf buggies to transport you but never seen them. The only selling point of the hotel is the beach. The view is fantastic and the sea is breathtaking. Apart from this I am struggling to think of any other positives. We cancelled our last two nights and moved to the Hilton which was exceptional. It was my first visit to Olbia and this hotel really affected my experience which was a real shame as it’s a beautiful place.

Superior delux room: we had no hot water for the first 24hrs of our stay. The fix was to run the bidet for 2 minutes every time you wanted hot water. The toilet splashes back at you when you flush. Housekeeping bang and enter the room at 9:15 - there are no do not disturb signs. The food is AWFUL. Most of all the attractions they promote themselves on are closed. The beach and loungers are practically empty, but the life guard on duty insists that you sit 3 rows away from the sea.

It was a wonderful place, I didn't want to come home. Its own beach is indescribably beautiful, with fine sand and slowly deepening water. The rooms were absolutely fine and the staff were helpful and kind. But perhaps the most beautiful part of the hotel was the sea view that we enjoyed at almost every point of the hotel. We come back!

We stayed at VOI Colonna Resort for 1 week, early September. The resort grounds are superb: breathtaking views, beautiful buildings, and an extraordinary beach. We've travelled quite a bit, and I must say that this beach is the best hotel beach I've seen! Also, the food was amazing: very tasty, wide variety, more than sufficient quantity, etc. For those travelling to Olbia airport, I recommend looking into taking the bus to city center and another bus to the hotel (it's not complicated at all and it's a matter of a few euros vs. 85 euros for a taxi). I also recommend visiting Tavolara but be mindful that the 1/2 day trip won't allow you sufficient time to visit this beautiful island. All in all, thank you VOI Colonna Resort for an unforgettable experience!
