On business this hotel was not so convenient due to the lack of good internet in the room. The room was outdated, with classic and peculiar interior, thin pillows but all was clean. Restaurant was ok and very affordable with local traditional Saxonian dishes and a selection of other stuff. Breakfast was good, nice cheese selection. Very friendly staff, parking at premises is only 4 euro and can be reached at the back of the hotel (address parking is Reichstrasse 9). Would recommend this for a short city trip as it is centrally located.
I have been twice in this hotel during business trips. The location is excellent. From the central station one can either walk or take the tram. The staff very friendly and helpful. There is a pool in the hotel which I did not visit. The restaurant area is cosy and there are lovely cakes to have during a coffee time in the afternoon.
Quiet place in the heart of Plauen. Very friendly staff. Rooms are nice, clean and quiet. Very good breakfast with every kind of food. Absolutely worth visiting. Good value for money. If in Plauen again we surely come back.
I can recommend this hotel. Clean rooms, nice people.. but breakfast can be better - too less food to choose something.. cheap food not like in normal 4 stars hotels. Nice pub under hotel with welcoming drink!
Stayed here for a night and really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also very good. We really appreciated the wifi in the rooms since that is not always available in German hotels. The location was also quite convenient.
This hotel is located close to shops and transport. It is 160 years old but nevertheless has a lift/elevator. It is decorated in traditional style with chandeliers etc, and has spa facilities which we didn't use. There was a tv set up in the lobby where guests could watch the Euromeister football games in comfortable lounge chairs. The bedroom I had was sadly in need of renovation - I don't know where the 4 star rating came from - the only toiletries provided were a squeeze pack of shampoo/soap on the shower wall and the wall near the basin. Ear buds were on the sink in the original 200-pack plastic container - opened and half used. The white tiles and plastic fittings revealed perhaps a 70s renovation? The bedroom was spacious (relatively), but felt well worn with the bottom sheet on the bed having a hole in it. But really the most disappointing thing was the breakfast. They provided a full breakfast but the quality of the products looked poor and poorly presented. The pre- prepared hard and soft boiled eggs were all hard, and very unappetising with a pale yellow and greyish hue. The poor staff were run off their feet. They were poorly presented and trained, and hence I wonder if there was some catastrophe where the kitchen staff had to step in and cover for the usual staff. Given the unemployment level in eastern Germany this hotel could really lift its game by employing and training more staff. There were many complaints by other people here on this particular weekend of the Plauen Spitzfest as the hotel was totally full and staff struggled to cope.…
This friendly quiet place in the heart of Plauen is managed by the welcoming owner family. The staff tries its best to fulfill every wish of the guest. Try also the traditional cuisine of the Vogtland region. And enjoy your dinner in the beautiful restaurant lit by many crystal chandeliers.
Very friendly staff. The accommodation is a bit outdated but is well maintained an clean. Good breakfast. Wifi is only available in the lobby. The hotel has a strong atmosphere (charm) of past glory. Good value for money.
Excellent hotel downtown Plauen without traffic but street-cars. Entering the hotel lobby you step on carpets and stay on carpets when proceeding to your room. Polite and eager receptionists will show you the way to the modern elevator. Rooms are furnished with old-style table and armchair. Bathroom with shower and hairdryer will not leave anything open to request for. I should not forget the free reception drink which is a sparkling wine piccolo. Reaching the cellar bar I asked to have the free drink changed to a nonalcoholic cocktail which has been delicious. The cellar bar is a cozy place to end the day. Beside the bar where I had a wonderful chat with the lady barkeeper there are also tables with armchairs to sip your drink. For those who like to have an afternoon teatime and some cake there is an extra room (which is also the breakfast room). For breakfast you should bring some time to try all the delicious salads (eggsalad, horse radish salad, cucumber salad), cream cheese, a various cheese platter, boilded or scrambled eggs with hot sausage, meatballs, different kind of cut sausages, gammon, muffins, cake. Plenty of all to enjoy. Location is downdown, everything in walking distance. Or close to the hotel you may take a street-car as well to get you to all possible directions. Even to and from the main station. They also offer an inhouse swimming-pool, sauna and wellness center which I might test the next time staying there.…
I stayed in this Hotel in October 2012. The first room I could not get wi-fi and since I had to do some work the front desk suggested I use the bar area. That was not going to work for me because I also had to call my company while I was gone. A man at the front desk offered to me another room and he checked to see if I could get on the internet. I had to move myself because he did not have time. This room had a terrible odor coming from the drain but not wanting to move again I just kept pouring water in it. I asked the front desk man where I should leave the key for the other room and he told me to just leave it in the door on the outside. When I went to check out three days later, the front desk staff asked me for the key to the first room. They did not believe me that I did not have it and explained to me what they would have to do if they did not get the key back...still not believing me. They were rude and accusatory even when I told them I had seen a lady leaving that room and I thought they had rented it out to someone else. The location is perfect, too bad the staff was so unfriendly.…
