Overall this place is ok. However there were a few little minus points. The room is pleasant enough, with a nice en-suite bathroom. Though i wasn't too sure about whether i wanted to use the communal shower sponge. It seemed a little odd that you'd have something that hundreds of other people may have used. So the room was ok and the subsequent breakfast that came with it. So the negatives. I mean these weren't huge negatives, but they did leave a bitter aftertaste. The first would be the host. Now this could be a translation thing, but it did feel that they weren't really interested in me being there. Secondly they openly tried to over charge me. Now i did question this when it came for me to leave and I was repaid. The second thing was the hosts recommendation for dinner. The host gave me a flyer for a nearby pizza delivery place. When i tried to order a pizza they were rude and simply put the phone down on me. Now i know the host isn't to blame for that, but I was put out by it. So it's an ok place.…
Staying in a fully renovated and charming old school, was a wonderful experience. It was very clean and comfortable place to stay. Prices were reasonable and you could also buy breakfast. There was a pretty garden, a possibility to barbecue and "a bathing barrel" and sauna were in use of the guests. A very family-friendly beach was within 400 meters walking distance. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this place.
Our family spent a couple of nights in Salpalinjan Hovi in early July 2020. The first impression was very welcoming and nice. The hotel is an old school that has been nicely renovated to meet all the modern standards. All the rooms feature a school theme, our room was decorated according to a biology theme which we liked. The room was very large, it easily accomodated the parents and our two sons 13 and 17 year of age. The room was also very clean and well equipped with a kitchen, stove, microwave, a nice TV and so on. The room was also extremely quiet which we appreciated a lot. We also ordered breakfast that was just excellent and it was delivered to our room. To sum it up, in our case price vs. quality ratio was excellent. Extra points for the atmosphere and silence.
We stayed here for 3 nights, and it was business trip. From the first steps inside of hotel we felt like at home - many details of design, created by owners, made renovated old school cosy place for quiet rest. For work purposes all our colleagues from Sweden and Estonia also have chosen these apartments. In the evenings all together we had nice conversations in the dinning room and enjoyed fantastic food prepared by the host Anne. Breakfast, lunch and dinner normally are not included into "Salpalinjan Hovi" service package, but in the case of group accommodation you can ask owners to prepare lunch or dinner for additional price. Also each room has small kitchenettes with necessary equipment. What we were surprised? We noticed that there is absolute silence in the room, we didn't here any conversations of other guests inside and outside building, any sound of cars. It turns out that hotel has perfect soundproof, which is usually missing in other hotels in Europe. Hotel ensures complete tranquility in the rooms. Another attractiveness of "Salpalinjan Hovi" - location in the surrounding of forest and historically interesting place. Hotel is between bunker line built and used in 1940-1944. You can go to explore bunkers yourself or you can ask for guided tour. And last, but not least, "Salpalinjan Hovi" has good sauna.…
We stayed here for two nights and it was a quiet and cosy place. At first we were worried since our room was directly adjacent to reception but when they say "soundproofed" rooms they really do mean soundproof and we could not hear a thing through the door or from the room next door or above. This is the most soundproof door I've ever come across. At one point I went out and found somebody checking in talking to the host and with the door shut I had no idea anyone was there. The beds were comfortable although there is no room cleaning or breakfast supplied, but there is a small kitchenette with microwave and small cooker, all cooking utensils provided. The location was quiet and hardly any traffic on the road, on the other side of the road is a bunker which was part of the fortified "salpa linja" and we visited there (take a torch since you just wander in by yourself). The only negative thing was the shower cubicle which was too clever for its own good with additional massage jets but the whole thing had seen better days and the shower head didn't stay in position and the temperature mixer had a range of very hot to extremely hot and the "coolest" setting was too hot for me so I could not actually stand under the shower due to the water being too hot. Some of the rooms are upstairs but the website does not explain which are on the ground floor and which are on the higher level, you may want to ask although like I said we could barely tell if there was anyone upstairs anyway (judging by the cars in the car park the place was full both nights though). Overall for a Finnish "B&B" (although the second B stands for breakfast and no breakfast is provided) the place is very good, in Finland the idea of en-suite bathrooms is still a bit of a novelty but here all the rooms have en-suite (the rarity of en-suite facilities is not limited to B&B's since even new houses rarely have en-suite bathrooms in Finland)…
