Then we come there was strange situation about pricing of room number. The price was for 2 people but lady on reception was traying to take payment for second guest breakfast. Also we was informed at reception that restaurant not working coz the “dont have chef today” we arrive late and have been planning to dinner in this restaurant. We stay in this hotel frequently and was surprised with this 2 situations. But we didnt know what else lies ahead. Then we come to room number we was surprised that heating in room doesnt work, its was really cold in the room. We come back to reception and lady said that there is some problems with heating and they tru to solve it, but she cant help today. All she offers its extra blankets. So we decided to go for dinner and comeback to hotel. Its was very cold in room so we diceded to not take shower and sleep partly undressed. In the morning its was colder so we stay in bed for a while. We even missed breakfast coz its was to cold to stand up for bed. After this we take shower in coldest hotel room in our life and go for checkout. We stay 1 hour more in our room so we cheked out in 1PM instead of 12PM. New lady on reception was absolutely rude. This is rudest staff i see in my life. She sai taht we must to pay 35EUR for 1 hour of late chekout. I said its to strange to pay 1/3 of price of night for 1 hour. Its happen on saturday and hotel almost empty, not fully booked. She trying to show us pricing but she didnt find the price. I said we stay in this hotel a lot and after this pricing for one hour we wont stay here anymore. She said - its ok for us, you can not say here anymore. All my arguments about coldest room in my life doesnt have any effect on she, she said “i am sorry”. Thats all. Its to strange for us in an empty hotel take extra payment from valued and loyal guest with rude face. We stay in this hotel every month and previously all staff was friendly and helpful but this lady ruined everything. Hope real manager of hotel take an action on this lady. She must became friendly and helpful for guests. Not rude and absolutely unfriendly. We undestand problem with heating. Why she didnt understand what we stay one hour more because of cold room? …
There are two hotel buildings, one is old building just 3 floor which is next to Lake. Other is just behind across the road. Parking place is small (outside) and need to pay 12 euro per day. The old building is renovated but passage is with carpet so you can realize little dusty as not good ventilation. Room floor was wooden. At night we had difficulty to get sleep fast. Don't know it was room ventilation or something else. Reception service was ok. Can be improved for international guests. Only one reception woman knows than other 2. Breakfast was good enough but place was small so it can be crowded in busy time. It was weekend and only one woman was taking care of putting food, removing plates, making tables in breakfast time. May be saving money on weekend.
Perfect location if you're going on a Saimaa Kanal cruise. Stayed twice in the historical beautifully renovated old spa building which is on the lakeside. Nice very clean quiet rooms with comfortable beds, air conditioning and a coffee capsule machine. Bicycles for hire to explore the surrounds (the old fortress and harbour). Fantastic breakfast buffet that surely has something for every taste. All staff we encountered were friendly and happy, top marks going to Jani on reception. If we ever return to Lappeenranta this will be our hotel.
Stayed in the ”new” side of hotel and it’s very clean, nice rooms. Staff was friendly & easygoing but no so professional. It’s summertime, so maybe they were summerstaff. Breakfast was ordinary but plenty, hot and cold foods - plus waffles one can have selfcooking :) Old Spa is so beautifuly renowated old building facing the lake. Parking space is very(!) tiny and staff keeping their car there makes it more crouded, so I recommed only small cars here. But otherwise a nice stay, maybe next time I try spa treatments too.
The room was of a generous size, was warm, and has a coffee machine where you can make complimentary teas or espresso. Wide choice of TV channels too. I found the spa area to be quite nice personally, and would recommend the sauna. Breakfast is a buffet with a bit of everything; the selection of foods where generally of good quality. Would have liked the restaurant to have been open for dinner for more than a couple of days, but I guess the town and the hotel don't get busy enough to warrant it? The town of Lappeenranta itself I found to be quite disappointing personally, but if you are visiting or stopping over then I'd highly recommend this hotel. *Please note that it is a nearly 20 minute walk from the station.
There are two separate buildings. There is the old SPA on the lake shore facing the marina and the passenger harbor. Some of the rooms have a beatiful lake view. And then there is the new SPA, where the SPA facilities are. As the old SPA house is located in front of the new one, the options are a street view, or a view to the parking place in the back of the building. I stayed in the new SPA building, where the hotel reception is also located. The room was spacious, new, clean, tip top. The personnel at the reception and at the restaurant was very friendly and helpful. The new building has a bistro, where the breakfast is served. Good, tasty breakfast. The speciality is Belgian Waffles. In the evenings the bistro serves dinner. There is a tasting menu, and á la carte. The food is very good. I was there late in season, almost off-season, and the room price was almost a bargain.…
Overall the hotel was about a basic 3 star , the staff were nice when you found them , the rooms were ok but the beds were way too soft maybe too old but need to be changed hotel is a spa but we did not have time to check it out
The room was nice, though our view was to the street and not to the lake. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good with a nice selection, but the scrambled eggs were dry and disgusting, so I would skip those. The spa was a bit of a joke, but still okay since it was included in the price. Service was friendly. Perfect location!!
Well renovated little boutique hotel, located right by the beautiful Lake Saimaa. Make sure to ask for a room in the old building. The sauna and pools are located in the other building, but only across the road.
We stayed one of the superior rooms in the newer building and had a partial view of the lake as we were in a room near the end of the building. The room was exactly as shown in the hotel website photos. Two coffee capsules and two teabags were provided. There was only one pillow on each bed and no spares in the cupboards for those who like more. We did not try the spa facilities. The breakfast was plentiful. As it is out of season the restaurant was closed on Sunday and the hotel was very quiet. Great location for walking to the harbour, fortress and town centre.
